Just released a new minor version of league/period. It:
- drops support for PHP8.1
- add support for PHP8.6 Time\Duration.
And there's always that small bug fixe in between
Happy upgrading and coding!

@dseguy has a fun project to use all the new #php86 features in a script. This is my part. It was based on one of my favorite subjects (state machines), and I had to force a bunch of the new features. :-)
#[\Override] landed for methods in PHP 8.3, and PHP 8.6 extends it to class constants. Rename the parent's constant, and PHP throws an error.

PHP's next time class marks a moment and leaves telling the time to a clock. The regex RFC's callback question is settled, a closure-as-entry-point idea lasted a day, and 8.6 is frozen.

PHP 8.6 deprecates is_integer(), is_long(), is_double(), and doubleval(). I grepped my app and found about 150 of them, which was a fun surprise. What's your count?

A PHP RFC went to a vote Tuesday, was winning 4 to 1, and its author closed it inside the hour โ over what the one no vote said. Also: the array_str_contains benchmark came back slower than a foreach loop.

PHP 8.6 Beta 3 is the final scheduled beta before release candidates begin. Drupal core is already testing against 8.6, but it is not yet listed as supported for Drupal 12 production sites.
A PHP RFC went to a vote Friday. By Sunday night its author had pulled it, over one no vote from the person who wrote the policy it broke. What's left: when a regex fails, is that your bug, or something you catch?
