Learning to say no was one of the hardest things chronic illness taught me. But it was also one of the most freeing. Protecting your energy isn't selfish, it's survival.

A scene doesn't need action to keep readers engaged.
Sometimes tension comes from what a character wants, what they're avoiding, or what they might lose.
Good pacing is about movement, not constant speed.

ON PERCEIVED TIME
Does the current hour feel like it is dragging, or rushing past you?
Put the phone face down. Count to sixty without a clock, and see how your internal rhythm aligns.
Ending my busy (5-lesson) teaching day EIGHT #VisibleHealth PacePoints behind today's Pacesetter.
Strangely the busiest teaching loads can often lead to lower exertion 🤔
Good times.
#LongCovid #Pacing to avoid overexertion and debilitating #PEM symptoms 🙏
Four hours on, and I'm astounded to see how well this morning's #Pacing has gone 😮
I worked with my Year 10 tutor group to build bridges out of spaghetti and elastic bands.
I taught a lively Year 8 group about Waves.
Then a third hour-long Geography lesson to Year 10.
My heartrate has stayed low

Busy 9 hours at work, but the last hour has included a glorious return to our school's 1🎶🎸 Funk Band 🎺🎶
So many great players 🎺🥁
I was approaching my Pacesetter line before that; now my #Pace has slowed 🙏
KubiosHRV morning check-in confirms my elevated RMSSD and very low Resting Heartrate, which it assesses as me being READY FOR ANYTHING - Which is exactly how a Parasympathetic Swing feels!
Today will feel very easy - until it doesn't! Unless I can fight the urge to rush about.
#Pacing vital today
Glorious 😎
Still can't believe that I can get away with RUNNING in 5-minute bouts.
But when I've not exerted at all beforehand it's so very easy.
Exhilerating! Felt like I could have continued for ages 🙂
But I'm #Pacing with care to avoid the #PEM associated with my #LongCovid
Welcome writers! This week's Being a Better Writer is tackling an old topic with a new twist! Hit the jump and let's all take a look together!

...I'm only 1.3 #visible_health PacePoints ahead of my daily Pacesetter 🙂
Lunch break - But I'm sitting here with my feet elevated for a few minutes before heading off to eat.
#Pacing to avoid overexertion and the #PEM associated with my #LongCovid 🙏
In the name of safety, sir. #Pacing
My gym sessions are now twice-weekly 🙏
Flexibility, Strength & Cardio.
Fewer than three #VisibleHealth PacePoints used despite (carefully paced) weight training and two runs on the treadmill - one minute of which was sprinting 🙂
This Sunday morning #EliteHRV suggests that my body is READY for the day ahead (10 out of 10) & that my PNS & SNS activity are in Balance.
#VisibleHealth check-in notes Stable & Improving.
#KubiosHRV also gives a good Readiness score.
This is because I'm #Pacing my life well.
I'm still unwell.
" #Pacing is an individualised approach to managing #physical, #cognitive & #emotional energy within a patient’s specific limits by carefully planning where & how to spend available energy. That is the definition. Individual. Specific. Not a chart.": buff.ly/MRFRAN0
