Every year I put together a Funk Playlsit for #EarthWindAndFireDay but this year I decided what better way to celebrate the day than with some live performances from the godfathers of #funk. You can listen to a MegaMix of the annual playlists here (youtube.com/playlist?lis...)

And now the reason for the #EarthWindAndFireDay season: Here’s Earth Wind and Fire LIVE in Japan in 1979 (youtu.be/alROoSD0BX4?...)

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 by Prince. You can watch their induction here (youtu.be/EbS2dIADcsg?...) & their performance here (youtu.be/k4EKAG8lASU?...)

Originally a conceptual element of their music it became a physical prop that was used in Parliament-Funkadelic live concerts from the 1970s into the 1990s. As of 2021 a replica resides in the Oakland Museum of California

I love how you can really see & hear how partially starting as a Doo-Wop group just sort of evolved into PFunk
#MusComEnt

Parliament Funkadelic began life as the 1950s New Jersey-based Doo-Wop group The Parliaments and their backing band who by the late 1960s became known as Funkadelic due to a legal dispute with their record label shortly after that they became the #PFunk we know today

“What’s happening Houston?”
🥵
#MusComEnt

First up we have Parliament Funkadelic live from The Summit in Houston, Texas in 1976 (youtu.be/r5aHD5ruSZ0?...) Sorry about the video quality. The audio and, of course, The vibes remain pretty immaculate to make up for it
