currently very much making the #MAEdu rounds is this Enterprise piece, covering Brockton's district review www.enterprisenews.com/story/news/e...

Ugh…I have an in-person meeting tonight. Looking forward to hearing your observations about the #MAedu discussion, though.

#MAEdu, there is a special meeting of the Board of Ed today about the strategic plan www.doe.mass.edu/bese/docs/fy...

(this was the one they scheduled mid-meeting last week, as some complained they had insufficient time to discuss the strategic plan in light of accountability results)

for the BAZILLIONTH time, we have why we have public education LITERALLY WRITTEN IN THE MASSACHUSETTS CONSTITUTION.

IT HAS SAID THE SAME THING SINCE 1780.

IT IS NOT ABOUT CAREERS.

#MAEdu, the Boston Municipal Research Bureau report about non-exam high schools (that the Globe posted an article to without linking to the report: NOT COOL) can be found here: www.bmrb.org/wp-content/u...

I found it interesting.

That the longest-lasting result of the 1965 report on desegregating Massachusetts K-12 education is *precisely* the individual family action the report warned would never be sufficient is a pretty telling condemnation of Massachusetts education policy and politics.

chat, is it going to be disruptive for 40% of school districts to change their early elementary literacy curricula in a single year? #MAEdu

@tracynovick.bsky.socialSep 22, 2026, 4:34 PM

just going to note that any press that went with just the #MAEdu MCAS stuff and aren't following the Board conversation are probably going to miss the boat

@tracynovick.bsky.socialSep 22, 2026, 4:33 PM

The Board has a significant problem with this, with it impacting who then is allowed to dominate the conversation #MAedu

@tracynovick.bsky.socialSep 22, 2026, 3:39 PM

Note that the articles you will see released about this in the next half hour were prewritten, prior to Board deliberation #MAEdu

As always: my recommendation is to look at the accountability results, as those have much more information.
