What shapes #Immunotherapy response in #ESCC?
A single-cell immune atlas reveals central memory T-cell depletion in tumours and identifies PD-L1⁺ #macrophages and CD39⁺ tumour-infiltrating T cells as clinically relevant immune features.

Some previous work suggested that captured mitochondria can integrate into recipient macrophage’s mitochondrial networks. Using genetic models to label parenchymal #mitochondria, we instead find continuous transfer to #macrophages at homeostasis, followed by #degradation 🚮
Two independent multi-tissue screens pointed to the same tissues: #mitochondrial_transfer to #macrophages is highest in the #heart❤ , #brown_adipose_tissue (BAT) 🔥and #skeletal_muscles💪 . Importantly, differences in macrophage phagocytic activity could not explain this pattern
Previous works showed that #macrophages capture #mitochondria released by other cells in several tissues. But where is this transfer most active❓We screened macrophages across 16 tissues and found striking differences in #mitochondrial_uptake spanning several orders of magnitude
