#LTHEChat Thank you @catherineomahony.bsky.social for the great provocations - and to everyone for their answers!! Now, Off to bed as Zebedee said!
You should see some of the phenomena all-PowerPoint diagrams and images by @jaxbartram.bsky.social. Amazing stuff. #LTHEchat.
Great questions and lots to go away and think about! Thank you #LTHEchat
Yes, great in theory, appaling in practice. Not enough exemplars of how it's done well and it's time consuming - something academia in 2026 doesn't have. This might a task for Agent AI ๐ (water and energy concerns aside) #LTHEChat
A6 look at your assessment briefs and see how these could be visually enhanced to convey information. Then ask your students if this helped. #LTHEchat
I love sketchnoting.
Iโve finally invested in a Kindle Scribe so I can be digital and draw-y. The ability to use colour is a game changer. #LTHEchat
She didn't notice that she was most of the time in the middle of the two screens and no much interaction with students (red colour is the heat map). She told me that she will interact more with students and give them time to reflect and work in teams (and maybe move more near students) #LTHEChat
Yes - and we would start topics with rich picture drawing - or image mediated dialogue using rich pictures - yes - you can see I love a bit of multimodality! #LTHEChat
Sometimes you can get inspiration from other presentations for shape combinations #LTHEchat
I love the careful use of animation to real bits in time, and fade other bits out when done.
Sadly, I see it done BADLY far more than I see it done well ๐
Thank you to @catherineomahony.bsky.social and to everyone who participated. #LTHEchat
A6 Mind-mapping a draft of an assessment, or drawing out a theory, concept or framework. If students were able to get their ideas down on paper quickly or able to recall a theory, concept or framework from memory that explain it verbally. #LTHEChat
A6 I have mixed feelings, but I will use new examples of fishbone and 5 whys. More importantly, be more critical when analysing the connection of each why, especially when students use AI to generate the images (and it is not perfect at all). The use of metaphors sounds interesting too #LTHEchat
A6: In the new year on another module, we use design thinking. So we encourage drawing and diagrams and prototypes in workshops. All of that can be photographed and submitted to their portfolio of evidence and graded. They can even get marks for discarded ideas. #LTHEchat
This looks a bit like a rich picture which is a concept from Soft Systems Methodology & which can be incredibly valuable in demonstrating different activities, relationships, etc #LTHEchat
Sketchnoting is so powerful. @profdawne.bsky.social does a brilliant workshop on teaching basics to get people started and build confidence #LTHEchat
A6: different - not sure as I do a lot. But I have a few fun assessments coming up.
One is highly visual โ but we donโt assess the quality of the visual, just the communication. It removes a bit of pressure for students and gives them chance to experiment. #LTHEchat
#LTHEChat A6 Ask students to draw their learning logs rather than just write them? (We just started our Curriculum module - and asked students to represent curriculum first in a drawing, image or poem - they made some beautiful representations to get the converation going!)
I had several ex-lecturers, Professors, who became colleagues at Brunel, University of London that didn't like PowerPoint when it was originally encouraged to OHPs, for this very reason. They liked the pace they could keep using OHPs. #LTHEChat
