I've seen #LeaveHerToHeaven several times now & I've come to feel that the direction is competent but not particularly interesting. Would've loved to see Sirk's take on it. #TCMParty

Still a shocking scene every time, the death of Danny

Danny ... Ellen is probably NOT the person you want to go swimming with.
This scene is so iconic. The heart shaped glasses, the cold stare. WOW.

"We wouldn't be separated long, just a few weeks."
"No, I'd rather wait"

OK, I guess that settles it then...🪦

This is so chilling and evil. #TCMParty #LeaveHerToHeaven

Yesssss, beautifully articulated!
It's one of the things that makes her so frightening and I want to know whose idea it was/where it came from!
#LeaveHerToHeaven #TCMParty

Every time I see #LeaveHerToHeaven I wonder if they took the train "meet-cute" idea from Chester Morris and Vivienne Osborne in Tomorrow at Seven (1933).
Chester the author spots Vivienne NOT enjoying his book, etc. Things veer differently as he enjoys tearing said book apart with her. #TCMParty

Richard, Ellen wants you to be a "kept man" and not have to work.
... let's consider that for a moment.
Moment over: I'd probably take her up on that. She is Gene Tierney after all.

Tierney in #LeaveHerToHeaven is right up there with Mitchum in The Night of the Hunter for unsettling eerieness. Her blood red lips on that porcelain skin is masterful. #TCM #TCMParty

Oh, Gene Tierney, you can slip into my my single bed any time.

Ellen revealed. #TCMParty #LeaveHerToHeaven

"But Danny is a cripple!"
Ellen's mask is almost totally off.

And the brilliant colors only underscores the warped nature of Ellen's personality and her later actions IMO. This is one classic era film noir that actually needs color. I don't think it would work quite as well in B&W.

So creepy

He'll always be in love with her. "Remember that."

Vincent Price doesn't seem to have a great deal of luck getting Gene Tierney to marry him. Close, but no cigar.
