We have had spectacular experiences with Zooms for World Read Aloud Day. They are only 20 minutes, but my students feel like they've met every author we've Zoomed with. It absolutely improves an author's circulation in my tiny town. #WRAD #kidlitchat

Yes, exactly!! #KidLitChat
Thank you all for sharing your ideas and expertise here at #kidlitchat. We should do a group visit, I tell ya! But until then... let's keep meeting here weekly. See ya next Tuesday!
Sounds like a wonderful way to do a presentation! Or draft a story. #kidlitchat
Never too early for it, in my opinion! Sometimes, when I'm stuck on a draft or a revision, I sit down and plan out what my school visit presentation will look like for this finished book. It really helps with closing the plot holes and focusing the story! #KidLitChat
Well, as they say, that totally ducks. #kidlitchat
Yes! Several of my favorite school visit presentations center around asking the magical "What if?" question that is the basis for our favorite fractured fairy tales. We'll fracture a fairy tale together right then and there... and we might even fracture a real-life story or two as well! #KidLitChat
Man, my phone's autocorrect is garbage these days. #KidlitChat
I have a fractured fairy tale on submission and another in the wings. I love fairy tales and have a shelf full of fairy tales and folk tales from around the world. I find a lot of inspiration on that shelf. #kidlitchat
The best is when they prepare the students in advance to have questions ready. They'll call on students one at a time to come up to the camera and ask their question. Then, they sit back down and I answer. The more engaged and respectful they are, the more questions we have time for! #KidLitChat
I'm too early in my career for this (aka underpublished), but I'm always taking mental notes on what others are doing for the future and thd things that sound like hreat ideas. #KidLitChat
I certainly can--I took four pages of notes!

... Oops! The shameless self-promo works better if you include the link for the thing you're promoting! Here's the information about my Selling Yourself (Without Selling Yourself Short) courses: vbartles.com/workshops/sy... #KidLitChat
On the subject of visits, I offer free Zoom visits of HEROES NEED HELP for any English-speaking classroom impacted by a chemo-requiring diagnosis. (Classmate, staff member, or family member, etc.) If we can't coordinate schedules, I can send a recording. #kidlitchat
I also loved the Beatrix Potter books and they inspired me to begin painting with watercolours. #kidlitchat
One of my favourites was A Summer To Die by Lois Lowry. Now Iβm thinking I should reread it for inspiration! #kidlitchat
Shameless self-promo plug: I have a series of on-demand marketing courses for #KidLit creators. @bonnieadamson.com can vouch for my course about preparing your school visits ;) (I also have sessions about how to make connections and how to keep an audience's attention--even on Zoom!) #KidLitChat
