See up-close how Toronto is reshaping former industrial lands and natural corridors into climate-resilient, people-first public spaces on this 20 km (12 mi) bike ride. At the Distillery District and Evergreen Brick Works, explore examples of adaptive reuse as placemaking. At Biidaasige Park in the Port Lands, learn how flood protection and the re-naturalization of the Don River have unlocked new development and a new approach to design. You'll also experience downtown's cycling infrastructure as you learn about cycling network expansion and plans for the integration of active transportation with major transit investments, including the Ontario Line. Hear from planners, community leaders, and project partners about implementation challenges, trade-offs, and lessons learned. Get to know some great places in Toronto and take home insights about how public realm investment drives community health and economic vitality.
Note: this description updated July 23, 2026, to reflect actual length of the bicycle ride, which will pe 20 km (12 mi), not 11.5 km (7 mi) as originally indicated.

I'm looking forward to being in conversation with Paul Ramirez Jonas as we celebrate the Canadian premiere of Public Trust, presented by The Bentway, and kicking off at the Fort York Branch of the Toronto Public Library on September 15 as part of "Celebrate Democracy." We'll talk about Paul's terrific body of work, and the possibilities that emerge when everyday acts of exchange become opportunities to imagine new social contracts.
Tickets are going quickly, so get one while you can.
It's a fantastic opportunity to hear from this brilliant artist.

Join us on September 15, or catch Public Trust at one of its multiple stops along the way.
With gratitude to Sarah Yaffe, Nan Davies, and the entire Fort York Branch Team!
