IN THEORY, Rochester's presence in Eloy is a big net gain for the city, but it's very unclear if the massive money he poured into the city has (or is feared to have) a corrupting influence on government and others. Such issues might get explored in a Book 3 if I ever write one. #HistorytownAZ

After Titanic Voyage came out, the real Eloy, Arizona opened a small hospital! I think many cases would still go to Casa Grande or Tucson, though. In alt-future Eloy, Rochester donated a lot to the Casa Grande hospital to ensure top-notch care in certain specialties. đŸ€” #Setopolis #HistorytownAZ

I haven't had time to look too deeply today #Septopolis but it sounds like today Eloy's potable water is provided by 4 wells? And they think it'll be fine for years? đŸ€” I'd assume canals were involved, but maybe that's for farming. The site where I envision #HistorytownAZ could access city water...

This is kind of cool. (Historytown has at least one boat ride that accomodates wheelchairs. Doesn't infringe on this patent application, thankfully.) #HistorytownAZ www.wdwinfo.com/news-stories...

Feeling cute; might put up for sale later. (As featured in Immigrants’ Journey) #HistorytownAZ

Zinc-copper elongated penny/pressed penny/smashed penny with the Historytown logo, a silhouette of Picacho Peak with a tiny cactus and The Archives on the left and a Ferris wheel on the right. “Historytown, Eloy, Arizona.” On top of a bag of about 90 more pressed pennies.

Who pays for the transportation infrastructure? Today Arizona has no toll roads that I know of, so it comes from taxes and federal money. Which a fair portion comes from gas taxes, meaning electric cars use the roads but don’t pay much for them. Not sure how that will shake out later. #HistorytownAZ

@juliebihn.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 3:25 PM

neither today or alt-future Eloy has the population or density to support it. But a tourist coming to visit Historytown could do fine with no car, relying on shuttles.

Historytown also has the Historytown Transport System (HTS), which is a PeopleMover that circles the park, so hey! #HistorytownAZ

@juliebihn.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 3:25 PM

A train line does run through today Eloy, but it’s just freight. You can take a Greyhound bus from Phoenix to a travel center in Eloy.

Alt-future Eloy has shuttles from Phoenix and Tucson’s airports to Historytown and nearby hotels. I love the idea of public transport, but

I think today Eloy is “oops all cars”. Alt-future Eloy still has cars (and their modern cars are self-driving). It also has rideshares, and Historytown has a surprising number of electric self-driving shuttles. During non-peak hours, some might serve as city circulators? #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis

It's pretty grim đŸ„ș but anyone who read Titanic Voyage probably gets it.

(Not saying you, but if someone reaaaaaaaaaallllllly wanted to get a taste, there's a like 1.2k-word story from Emo Rocky's POV slightly hidden on my website. juliebihn.com and one would add /Rocky2 to the end.) #HistorytownAZ

@juliebihn.bsky.socialSep 16, 2026, 10:22 PM

I’ve been told Liam needs a hug, and he gets at least a few. He goes THROUGH IT in Titanic Voyage.

Emo Rocky, who briefly appears in Titanic Voyage, also needs a hug, but he‘d grumble the whole time (and he really only wants one impossible hug). #HistorytownAZ #AwesomeCharacters

Today Eloy is 114.67 square miles, largely rural, with many unincorporated areas. The streets are mostly grids (bisected by a freeway!). Architecture style is eclectic/vintage today. In alt-future-Eloy, Southwest suburban-style took over new builds, with some chain stores. #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis

City of Eloy from their own website. Many orange shaded areas in a grid, indicating the city, with some white squares and other shapes within that are not part of the city.

“Dashing Days” are legally distinct Dapper Days where it’s about dressing well (but also Dashing Days are official events, not unofficial like Dapper Days). Both have a lot of vintage outfits! I am sure Historytown does at least an annual event w/ different historical dress-up themes. #HistorytownAZ

@juliebihn.bsky.socialSep 15, 2026, 9:22 PM

...also do a holiday for the city's founding, but apparently that was on December 12 (1949), so that likely conflicts with the Electric Light Parade. I bet they find a different day to celebrate something, but I'm not sure what yet. (July 4th is probably wild at Historytown!) #HistorytownAZ

@juliebihn.bsky.socialSep 15, 2026, 9:22 PM

This is tricky! Closest I could find right now is the Electric Light Parade for Christmas. Presumably the carnival rides would go away once Historytown opened. Historytown does hold events like "Dashing Days" (encouraging people to dress up). I assumed Historytown might... #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis

Thank you! Spoilers but I love him đŸ„ș #HistorytownAZ

Mr. Hugh balled his hands into fists so tight that I feared he’d split the seams of his gloves. “I want to discover what went wrong with the Titanic. To know what should have been done. To figure out how they can keep it from happening again.”

I’d never heard his voice shake before. I found myself patting his arm. “Mr. Hugh, you don’t build ships. As awful as the sinking was, it wasn’t your fault.”

“But I want to know. If something ever happened at home, or at Wanamaker’s . . .” His anger faded, and he looked lost.

Before I knew what I was doing, I’d taken his hand. He stared, but he didn’t pull away. “Mr. Hugh,” I said. “How many accounts of the Titanic have you read?”

He didn’t answer, but he’d paid twenty-five cents for a magazine with an article written by a captain who arrived hours after the sinking. Surely Mr. Hugh had read more than was good for his health. Unlike most people, he also had the sense to view the disaster as a horror and a tragedy, not a sentimental story of heroism and bravery.

What a question!

Liam: How he wears his heart on his sleeve

Rocky: The way he hides his feelings but actually really cares

Clara: Her selfless bravery

Emma: Her stubbornness (she forced her way into my book and improved it!)

Oliver: His caution

Some people DO dress sharp, though, like my MC Liam, who quite fancies his Titanic-officer-looking uniform.

Bonus: two time traveling T-shirts from Historytown! The first is a misprint and neither are great for cooling, sadly. 3/3 #HistorytownAZ

Blue Historytown logo on white T-shirt. Silhouette of Picacho Peak, reversed, with a tower, Ferris wheel, and cactus. Historytown, Eloy, Arizona Heather grey Titanic Voyage shirt. Titanic silhouette in dark blue over a light-blue Picacho Peak, almost an iceberg. Titanic Voyage, Eloy, Arizona

Eloy used to be known for growing cotton, and the denizens of future Eloy tend to wear natural and/or breathable materials. Rochester pioneered some cooling materials that still look dapper for their “historians’” uniforms, fabrics which spread to the public. 1/3 #HistorytownAZ #Septopolis
