could not imagine a better way to finish this #GMS that finding a copy of Queer. Thanks everyone for the love, the kindness, the vulnerability, the accountability, the boldness, and the friction, they all seem to follow my work everywhere, and I am proud of that. #GMS2026

What a day at #GMS2026! Here's my piece for the conference zine, "In Praise of Nature." I'm blown away by the creativity of the performances that we got to experience today.

Photo of a collage. The background has a book cover with gold accents surrounded by marker drawings of leaves. Overlaid on top are cut-out bits of medieval manuscripts showing angels (sometimes playing instruments and with flowers in their hair), monks, Mary, and animals intertwined with vines. There's also a translucent rainbow sticker over a medieval landscape.

Crucial questions for our conference! #gms2026

My favourite question to ponder from the day: When dealing with creative responses to women (or the lack thereof) in medieval texts, are we reading against the grain or filing in the gaps? When are we doing which one, and why? How does our own emotional approach factor into answering that?

What a stimulating first day of #GMS2026! Inspired by the plenary from Kristen Haas Curtis, I did some doodling while taking notes on the sessions. Here are some doodles from Kristen's talk and Marie Besson's talk (inspired by her amazing piece "The Clock").

A tiny comic version of Kristen Haas Curtis gesticulates and says, "COMICS!" around notes concerning Scott McCloud and Chaucer.Doodle of Kristen Haas Curtis exhaling with a calm face and saying "deep breath" around some messy notes, including the quote "perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor"Doodles on the top of a notebook page. The first one shows me bent over with sunglasses a migraine cloud around my head and a hot water bottle in my lap. Next to it is a hot water bottle with a heart coming out of it to represent how Laura Varnam lent me hers when I needed it. Then I did my own take on the Kristen Haas Curtis's squire, a funny-looking man with a thin sword. There's also an eye and a sleepy moon. Below are notes from the talk.A drawing of a braided spiral with two lines intersecting it, inspired by Marie Besson's piece "The Clock."

Settled into Oxford and ready for #GMS2026!

Photo of Meg, a white woman with longish blonde hair, wearing huge sunglasses and smiling. Behind her are some gold-tinted buildings from Jesus College, Oxford.

I printed a briny briny monster-mother this weekend for #GMS2026 Gender and Creativity (@drlauravarnam.bsky.social at the helm)! I used a baren for each block hence the texture on the background, but let's be generous and say it's deliberately like that.
