FEEL GOOD FRANCO
Franco Colapinto arrives in the Baku paddock ahead of media day in Azerbaijan. He’s raced here twice before and has never been outqualified by a teammate at this circuit.
A STRONG RETURN
Charles Leclerc went long on his opening stint, leading the race for large periods. The Ferrari pit wall managed the gap to Russell well, bringing Charles back out in P4.
A BIT OF FUN
After being doused in champagne, Kimi Antonelli took a moment to grab a selfie overlooking the Madring track. A bit of enjoyment for the young Italian after a memorable podium.
MADRID'S FIRST WINNER
Kimi Antonelli takes his eighth career victory, extending his championship lead to 81 points. He was able to take full advantage when the VSC came out and never looked back.
THE LIGHTS ARE OUT
The first-ever Formula One Grand Prix at the Madring is underway! Lando Norris made a strong start, navigating the opening few corners well to maintain his lead.
TWO GREATS IN THE SAME FRAME
Romain Grosjean in focus, with Nico Hulkenberg out of focus. But he will certainly be focused come 3:03pm today, when the five lights go out to get the Spanish Grand Prix.
PLEASANT SUNDAY DRIVE
Carlos Sainz and Rebecca Donaldson took a leisurely Sunday drive around the paddock in a golf cart. Yesterday, Carlos tried to steal one of these carts. There’ll be more on that in my post-race YouTube video.
KIMI GOES FOR THE GAP
Shooting low, two of us photographers were just an arm’s width apart when Kimi, on his scooter, decided to split the difference between us.
MERCEDES LEAD THE WAY
It was a Mercedes driver at the top of the timesheets once again at the Madring, but this time it was championship leader Kimi Antonelli who set the pace.
FASTEST MAN
George Russell was fastest in what was a relatively uneventful FP1 session here in Madrid. The last time Russell topped the FP1 timesheets, we were also in Spain, back in Barcelona in Round 7.
A SECOND HOME RACE
Fernando Alonso is joined in the paddock today by his partner Melissa Jiménez and their son Leonard. The Spaniard is preparing for his second home race of the season, with plenty of support around him as he takes to the track this weekend.
ALEX IN DIOR
Alexandra Leclerc is in the paddock today supporting her husband Charles, joined by their dog Leo. Last night, Alexandra was in Monaco celebrating the launch of her Rhode collection, and you can see one of those products on her handbag today.
A LITTLE SPRINT
Most of the drivers are being driven around on the back of these buggies, with the exception so far being Carlos Sainz, who is opting to drive his entourage around himself.
YOUNG LOVE
Oliver Bearman and his girlfriend Alicia Torriani navigated the car park here, on a stunning morning in Madrid.
HOPEFUL OF A SMILE
Is what I said to Alex Albon as he drove past me in his track-provided buggy, accompanied by his pro golfer fiancée Lily. As you can see, I was rewarded.
A BET IS A BET
This is ESPN presenter Juan Fossaroli, sporting some Italian face paint around the paddock today. Why? He lost a bet with Kimi Antonelli at Monza last weekend.
REMAINING UPBEAT
George Russell was quick to congratulate his teammate in the media pen and spoke positively about Mercedes, saying he felt the team had done all they could today with the cards they were dealt for him.
UNDER THE RADAR
Arvid Lindblad continues to fly somewhat under the radar this season, despite putting together an impressive run of form. The young Brit has scored points in seven of the last eight Grand Prix, quietly building a strong record as the season progresses.
FORZA KIMI
For the first time since 1966, an Italian driver has taken the top step of the podium at the Italian Grand Prix. After starting from P19, Kimi Antonelli fought his way through the field and battled his teammate to secure his seventh victory in Formula One.
