A surprise Wryneck encounter at the Seaton Wetlands this morning. A great spot by Bob Longhorn, while the rest of us in the hide were staring at the sky, waiting for the Osprey to appear. It flew soon after, and has not yet been relocated. #Devonbirds #Seatonwetlands

Something of the view that a fish might get of an Osprey hunting overhead. The juvenile bird is still on the Axe (19/9/26), and given the wind, it seems unlikely that it will leave today. #Devonbirds

Female Kingfisher, this morning on the Seaton Wetlands. #Devonbirds

Is the juvenile Osprey now on the Axe on an extended 'staycation'? If, and it is a big IF, this morning's Osprey is the same bird that was first seen on the 20th August, it has been here for nearly four weeks. 1st picture from 20/8, 2nd picture from this morning 16/9. #Devonbirds

I have been away for a few days, but my wife and I managed a fleeting encounter with a juvenile Osprey, from the Tower hide this evening. The corvids drove it away before it could catch a fish, but it was great to see it in the golden light of the setting sun. #SeatonWetlands #Devonbirds

Another exciting afternoon on the patch today with 9 Glossy Ibis (first seen at Dawlish) and then my first White-tailed Eagle on the Otter Estuary NR. #UKBirding #DevonBirding #DevonBirds

Distant Bonxie (pic!), 23 Common Scoter, 8 Sandwich Tern, 2 Manx Shearwater, 2 Turnstone – all W out of the Bristol Channel at Bull Point, after clearance of a cold front first thing this a.m. A burst of Swallow, House Martin & Meadow Pipit passage too. #UKbirding #DevonBirds #patchbirding

A distant Bonxie flying low, right to left and slightly away from the observer, over a bright but choppy sea and showing big white flashes on both upper and undersides of its wings

Juvenile Osprey, still on the Seaton Wetlands yesterday. It did try out a very high 'thermal' lift in the afternoon, before coming back down to fish. Perhaps it is ready to move on... #Devonbirds

'Our' juvenile Osprey put on a good show this afternoon, near the Tower hide on the River Axe. It must move on eventually, but it will be missed! #DevonBirds

Froward Cove, Froward Point, S Devon. @jacob-wood.bsky.social's elusive #OrtolanBunting finally gave itself up and showed well for several minutes from 18.15 this evening. Thanks for the updates & advice from local birders. #DevonBirds #UKBirding @rarebirder.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social

It was a no-show for Osprey on the Axe this morning, but there was a female Kingfisher flitting around various points near the hide, to keep us occupied. #Devonbirds

Couldn’t resist another stop at Seaton Wetlands on the way home from work for a second round with this juvenile pectoral sandpiper. It put on a great show in the evening shadow of the hide. Amazing views considering I’d never seen one a week ago! #Birds #DevonBirds #WildlifePhotography
