Redraw and concept expansion of my Bug Fables Oc, Motley the Harlequin Beetle and her pet Isopod, Libra, that she can roll around like a balance ball. A pair of traveling entertainers.

A harlequin beetle with clown face paint and antennae shaped like a jester's hat, rolling around on an Isopod with a star painted onto it, resembling a circus ball

After getting distracted so often, I finally beat #BugFables-
A very fun, very endearing indie rpg clearly being inspired by Paper Mario
Very lovely style & enjoyable characters with a fun battle system, but otherwise cluncky controls for overworld & puzzles
Rly liked it, rly happy that I played it.

Bugtober 2025 Day 7 - Tournament
'EYYYYY we're finally getting to the newer comics I've made for...last year's Bugtober!! I wanted to draw more instances of Vi and Kabbu being silly together, haha.

#bugfables #comics

Tournament
Panel 1
Vi and Kabbu are sitting at a table, wearing suits.
Vi: Well, Kabbu, we've been in a stalemate for about 45 minutes now. What's the play here?

Panel 2
Kabbu slams his fist onto the table as Vi nods.
Kabbu: Vi, both opponents are REALLY bringing their A-game here! SOMEONE needs just one final push!

Panel 3
Zooming out, Leif is playing Spy Cards. He looks annoyed.
Leif: Guys, we know how long this match has been going, no need to rub it in.

Panel 4
Kabbu and Vi get frantic. Leif looks even more annoyed.
Kabbu: Oh! Sass! We've got sass!
Vi: JUST WIN ALREADY!!

3/6 for the Bosses of "Bug Fables as a stereotypical fantasy RPG"

The Heavy Golem (Adaptation of Heavy Drone B33)

Expect a delay whilst I try to brainstorm a good idea for the next boss's design. Changes and Desc. in Alt Text

#bugfablesau #bugfables #fanart #myart

A large mechanical construct, with a yellow, almost Golden, metallic body. There is a large crystal on it's back

Bestiary Entry: "An ancient construct made to defend the ruins of Blatarria, an ancient kingdom with the Forgotten Dunes. Powered by the magic crystals on it's back"

I made it an ancient golem since if there's technology in the RPGs I was referencing, it's almost always ancient in origin. I also did it since I had a good replacement for the Watcher in mind, as shown with the teaser I posted, but the desert was a more generic rpg setting than the Honey Factory, so I moved this boss to the Lost Sands equivalent. Also Blatarria is the Roach equivalent of this AU, with the name being an insect order of Roaches.

Another Tuesday, another comic posted on my Patreon!

Who starts a conversation like that, I JUST sat down, Vi.

Vi: I bet your FAV bosses to beat up were the ones that gave you trauma, right?

Leif, unsure: Uh...

2/6 - "Almighty Venus"/Devouring Orchid (Adaptation of Venus + Devourer)

The second main boss for my small art concept of "What if Bug Fables was a high fantasy rpg". Reasoning behind changes and description in Alt Text

#bugfablesau #bugfables #fanart #myart

Description: "A rare carnivorous plant found within the Autumn Highlands, whenever it's fed, the surrounding flora and harvests grows vastly, causing it to have been worshipped for centuries. Though recently, it's Acolyte has started feeding it humans, which it has developed a taste for."

So the reason behind this change is that apparently the way Venus was written to make it seem like she was a Flytrap that devoured adventurers, basically being a misdirect to make her seem more malicious, so I just made her variant be that misdirect, since I feel like "evil religion" is a very common trope in RPGs.

Description of drawings: A large plant like creature with two large thorned tendrils, a flowering collar around it's gaping maw, all of these originating from a Pitcher Plant like body.

Bandana, I think you should be more concerned about where Maki found that plastic.

Bandana Dee: "How are you able to do damage with that sword if it's made of plastic?"
Maki: "It is the finest plastic found to make the finest sword."
