The American edition of Croker’s spook story collection. The binding and marbled endpapers are exquisite. I had the pleasure of publishing an expanded edition of Croker’s work through Swan River Press.

What happens to your imaginary friends when you forget about them? Torture. Unimaginable torture, that’s what. Only 6 books long, but it’s well worth it.
@wellthumbed.bsky.social#booktober recommend no. 8, Bartington Stoke edition of Frankenstein. I love Barrington Stokes as a publisher. Dyslexia friendly, printed on yellow paper, authors involve readers in the writing process, as well as making many classic stories accessible to dyslexic reader. And this one’s fabulous.
