#AlchemyofSouls is my favourite Kdrama of all time. Also my favourite fantasy of all time in any language. I consider it even better than #LOTR or any Cdrama fantasy. Everything about it is perfect.
New #AlchemyOfSouls complaint unlocked! One of the things I really liked about S1 was the creative makeup and hair. In S2 the hairstyles are boring. Many characters look the same (after 3 years!?). Every character who got a new style got a downgrade. Check out the 2 leads: Left, S1. Right, S2
Day 19: Transmigration
Apparently the rules say I have to pick #AlchemyOfSouls for this one because it transmigration is literally the whole plot of this kdrama and also I can’t shut up about it lately.
I’m also enjoying watching #ParkSoJin in #AlchemyOfSouls. She has such a minor part but such an interesting face. I understand she’s a well known singer but I don’t follow kpop, so I’d never heard of her before. I think she looks like the classical Japanese beauties we see in art.
I do like #SeoHyeWon as So-yi in #AlchemyOfSouls 2. She’s a survivor. In a way, she’s another Naksu: a poor girl without many choices who became a villain. Except she doesn’t have superpowers, a harem of men after her, and a redemption arc.
The thing I find the most disappointing about #AlchemyOfSouls 2 is the recycling of the secondary characters without much change. I’m starting to get bored with Jin Mu, Dang-gu, and especially this couple. Mrs. Kim and Uncle Jin are not funny and they’re making me want to FF.
I find the change in Jang Uk, played by #LeeJaeWook, to be one of the most interesting parts of #AlchemyOfSouls 2. He reminds me of the crown prince in #MoonRiver: The grieving lover left behind after his soulmate dies, who finds himself unexpectedly drawn to a “new” woman.
I know some viewers didn’t like that the actress changed from S1 to S2. The excuse the writers gave to explain this is stupid and a plot hole. But if I can overlook that, I actually like #GoYounJung in #AlchemyOfSouls. As the character reminds us, she’s beautiful. I am happy to stare at this face.
One of the things I like the best about #AlchemyOfSouls S2 is how they have changed and yet it echoes S1. The grumpy/sunshine roles have switched. She was prickly in S1 while he was arrogant but hopeful. In S2 she’s sweet but he is damaged. Yet their relationship starts the same: as a transaction.
Okay I’ve watched 5 episodes (half) of #AlchemyOfSouls season 2 and I’m mostly liking it. A mini 🧵 of the best and worst so far, with mild spoilers that won’t surprise anyone who has seen a trailer for this kdrama.
Okay, I just finished #AlchemyOfSouls season 1. When a kdrama has a last episode full of separation and tears, you know they’re gonna live HEA. But when a kdrama has a last episode full of sweetness and hope, you know they’re all gonna die. Looking forward to season 2.
