Happy #UKFungusDay πŸ„

The UK is full of fascinating and fabulous fungi – and autumn is the perfect time to spot them.

But how much do you really know about fungi? Are they an animal or a plant? How do they help boost biodiversity in the UK?

Find out in our new blogπŸ‘‰ https://bit.ly/4yHNxVZ ~Clara

A wee bit of sketching. #fungi #insects #arachnids #ukfungusday #ukfungusday2026 #sketchbook

An opened sketchbook, with unfinished pages. It shows ladybird sketches and drawings, sawfly larvae, but mostly drawings and sketches of various types of fungi.

πŸ„ It's #UKFungusDay! We love our weird & wonderful fungi

But we should find mushrooms on autumn walks, not in our homes

@andyburnham, what will you do to bring down bills this winter, so we don't have to ration heating and live with mould?

Some tips... www.fuelpovertyaction.org.uk/ending-fuel-...

An ecological niche on a single leaf!
Common Lime leaf…

It's not all woodland wonders - some fungi prefer the more out-in-the-open vibes. This #UKFungusDay we celebrate our colourful grassland gems - the waxcaps πŸ„

A whole bunch of fungi found in East Yorkshire last week - I even think I know what some of them are called although their beauty and intricacy are beyond naming!

#ukfungusday tomorrow 10 October www.ukfungusday.co.uk but the fungi will be around for a while longer!

Autumn is a brilliant time to look for fungi. They’re also vital to our ecosystems, helping break down organic matter and recycle nutrients.

Chloe recently found this impressive Giant Puffball!

What have you spotted? πŸ„

Meet 'hazel gloves' - a rare fungus found in #ScotlandsRainforest that parasitises another fungus. It grows on old hazels but feeds on a glue-crust fungus that binds twigs. We're delighted to have recorded it at #Dunollie & #Crinan Woods. Spotted anyπŸ„this #UKFungusDay? πŸ‘‰οΈ buff.ly/RsVFMxF
