Back home now and too cold for the trap last night. The toilet wall at Carsington produced 8 Epirrita agg though, so maybe I should have tried. A big push of Woodpigeon this morning with c20k moving south 🤗

Only one moth in the trap last night in mid Cheshire, temperature down to 4c. I am hopeful it was a Dark Chestnut, if so it will be a new moth for me. Confirmation would be appreciated. #teammoth #mothsmatter

A lovely Barred Sallow and one of the two Red-line Quakers from Thursday nights trap. We also had Black Rustic, Green-brindled Crescent and Chestnut. A three hour trap yesterday evening yielded precisely zero moths #teammoth

Posting this again as it is looking more like a dark Dewick's Plusia. If so, it's a first for us. VC13 #moths #mothing #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social @mothiduk.bsky.social

less than 12 hours after praising the good side of tomato & tobacco hornworms, I had my first visit of a Carolina sphinx/tobacco hawk moth (Manduca sexta) to the light.

a very worn individual, but far and away the largest moth I've encountered!

#teammoth #mothsmatter #bugsky

A huge moth perched in the palm of a hand. Its wings ade papery and worn, a motled brown and grey. Its thick body is nearly as wide as a finger, banded with blac and yellow. In th backgrund, a diffuse purple area is visible, light from a UV bulb

Just one moth from last night’s trap, a Feathered Thorn.
Now that’s what I call ‘Dances with Wogan’.

I take pleasure in baiting the Irishman to come out to play, and then seeing him off with just a single moth 😆

my favorite thing about #teammoth is the moths (of course!)

my 2nd favorite thing is learning new slang. this post is completely incomprehensible in US English 😂😂😂

Well between the 3 traps tonight we barely made double figures. Best moth of the night is a potential Agonopterix scopariella, a speciality of Botley wood, Hants where we were trapping tonight. Next best was 2 Streak, including this one that landed on me both species larva feed on broom #teammoth
