So I know I'm way late to this news but I finally saw the trailer to Australian Survivor's next season & I think the Survivor Rivals concept of casting people from similar archetypes & putting them on opposing tribes as like a mirror matchup is very interesting! #SurvivorAU

#Survivor51 cast: 21 people, everyone is between 25 and 35 (three exceptions).

#SurvivorAU Rivals cast: 24 people, everyone is between 31 and 42 (five exceptions).

Is this some kind of arms race to make the hosts feel young again?

It would be kind of interesting if they had the stakes of only one of each rival pair allowed to make a 12-person merge, but I think that would neuter gameplay. I hope they can find some fun way to utilize the theme a bit. Regardless, I'm excited for a new location. #SurvivorAU

Is a Rivals theme for newbies who don’t know each other silly? Yes. Could a cast of public figures be concerning? Sure. But to defend #SurvivorAU, many seasons have worked in spite of stupid themes, & they’ve cast many riveting famous people. Their quality level earns them the benefit of the doubt.

"I don't care what the photographer says, your hand messes up your head shot. Please don't do that."

On the other hand, I actually am happy/grateful that #SurvivorAU finally had a full cast reveal with names, ages, and approximate locations. At last! (I hope it's not the last.)

I'm impressed that #SurvivorAU found a way to make a full third of the cast (semi-) pro athletes. Who can forget the scintillating contributions of Simon Black and Gavin Wanganeen?

It's a low bar, but Rivals is most #SurvivorAU has mixed it up for a season title on the logo. Maybe they even used it on location...but I'm not holding breath.
