@martinjordan.comAs a public servant, I write weekly notes to let people see what I do.
This week, my week 230 at @digitalservice.bund.de, I co-delivered 2 talks at the ‘ #ServiceDesign in Government’ @sdingov.bsky.social conference in Edinburgh.
I also got the naming services guidance ready for publication.
@sdingov.bsky.socialDay one of #SDinGov 2026 was a blast 🎉
We kicked off the day with a keynote from George Aye and finished it with a cocktail and a ceilidh! Thank you so much to all our speakers who shared with us yesterday, and good luck to today's speakers!
We'll see you very soon for day 2 👋

Nina and I rehearsed our policy and #serviceDesign @sdingov.bsky.social talk for Edinburgh.
I also discussed the umbrella brand with German and Dutch colleagues.
Furthermore, I supported a #ServiceStandard peer review.
@rachelawood.bsky.socialCan you help? I’m looking for co-design superheroes who have lived and / or practice expertise. My PhD research is in the design of parenting education with, and for women who are justice experienced. Thank you 🙏 @ougradsch.bsky.social #phd #design #research #codesign #servicedesign #systemsthinking
@rachelawood.bsky.socialService Design Thursday 17th September 2026 - the Primacy Effect edition. Our tendency to remember our first experiences within a service really matter 😊✨🎢 @ougradsch.bsky.social #phd #design #research #psychology #servicedesign #primacyeffect #momentsthatmatter
@thisisharmonic.bsky.socialBig news! Harmonic Design is a proud sponsor of #SDGC26 in Frankfurt this October!

@se-davidobrien.mastodon.scot.ap.brid.gy@rachelawood.bsky.socialSystemic Service Co-design practice and research week-notes 176. The week that the Design Economy Report 2026 came out. Reasons to be optimistic I think 😊✨🎢 @ougradsch.bsky.social #phd #design #research #psychology #servicedesign #systemsthinking #codesign #weeknotes
@umoservices.bsky.socialA clear support route makes four things visible: where to start, what happens next, what information is needed and who follows up.
Test one common enquiry end to end. Where does clarity disappear?
@se-davidobrien.mastodon.scot.ap.brid.gyYou'll get some guidance on what to do with the results, and the option to print them, or export a PDF.

#serviceDesign […]
@se-davidobrien.mastodon.scot.ap.brid.gyAsk any service designer to list their top people in the industry who have influenced them, and it’s a fair bet that most of them will mention Lou Downe.
Lou literally wrote the book about #serviceDesign in the public sector. And pretty much introduced the concept to UK Government.
So when Lou […]

“Volunteering as collaboration (i.e. as a form of relationship) for a society in which everyone, each according to their abilities, can be active and create value.”

@rachelawood.bsky.socialService Design Thursday 10th September 2026 - the DSRP Edition. This week I’ve been exploring how this systems thinking framework can support service design. Until week-notes 😊 ✨🎢 @ougradsch.bsky.social #phd #design #research #psychology #DSRP #servicedesign #systemsthinking
@umoservices.bsky.socialOnce a student has asked for support, how much must they explain or enter again?
Follow one referral route end to end. Mark every repeat, re-entry and unclear handover. Which step could be removed?
@rachelawood.bsky.socialSystemic Service Co-design week-notes 175. Imposter syndrome was high this week, but it eased as time went on, thankfully. Here’s to a good week ahead 😊✨🎢 @ougradsch.bsky.social #phd #design #research #psychology #systemsthinking #servicedesign #codesign #weeknotes
@martinjordan.comAs a public servant, I write weekly notes to let people see what I do.
Last week’s notes were still missing. Now, they are published.
I co-ran the GDS-developed ‘Introduction to #serviceDesign’ again – now linked to the #ServiceStandard. I also reflected on the lack of interest in service quality.
