Tropical Storm Nolo has also started strengthening as it crawls north toward the Big Island. Right now, #Nolo mainly appears to be a flooding threat, but northward shifts could bring a strong hurricane onshore. A Hurricane watch has been issued.

All areas of the park, including tent camping area at Nāmakanipaio, will close to all recreational activities by 5 PM September 24, 2026.
