Zen: How much it hurts that his parents are absent and that they refuse to let him leave home

Rune: the pain of losing both their parents at a young age

Azraa: the hurt she feels that, over time, she's forgotten the faces of the people she loved and her own name

Veronica's the last living member of a devil family gang that got wiped off the map when it started to rival the mafia in power. The family went out with a bang and took a city block with them. Veronica got thrown clear and has been afraid of fire ever since

Maybe what Cole needs to learn is that his depression doesn't have to be a skeleton in his closet, and it's something he can talk to other people about. But for now, it feels like a dark secret to him.

I don't think being closeted is a skeleton in the closet (lol) but the whole phantom thief thing is a big one.

There's a 100k bounty on Leo's head, the cops have already shot him once... If it ever got out, his life would be over. Not even his rival knows his true identity.

Khamsin spends the first half of the book wearing clothing picked for her--first regal, then a disguise.

But she is not a princess, nor is she a fugitive. That's what others want her to be.

What she is is a proud Zagnati bellatrice, and her true outfit of choice reflects it.

#LGBTQWriteAThon

But Khamsin isn't listening. She picks up the helmet, first, runs her fingers over the chitinwork—nothing fine, nothing sanded, only the material's natural lines, hollowed, treated, hardened. The crown of the skewer-moth, a saucer-shaped piece of carapace lined with slits that once housed the creature's many tongues—now an armored sun-hat. The thorax piece of a burrower fashioned into a pauldron, its long wings into a cape. Bracers from the hollowed-out leg segments of a stalk-hound alpha, overlapping vigilant plates in a skirt over the legs, adornments of bone and silk and sinew.

A raider's regalia.

"It's glorious," Khamsin says.

The piece of quilted armor Sahira bought her is there, too, as is the dagger, and yes, the gara—its steel polished and sharpened, its curved blade thirsty.A piece of character art by ArgoVela (@argovelaart.bsky.social) depicting two figures. To the right is Khamsin, a very tall and powerfully built woman with beige skin, short blonde hair, and covered in scars. She carries a large curved blade on her back and wears a sun hat-like helmet and a pauldron made of bug parts and decorated with gossamer wings. She towers well above the other figure, and is shielding her from the wind with her cloak while watching her protectively.

To the left is, Sahira, an averagely-sized human, who s walking carefully in the shade provided. Her skin is olive and she has dark long hair, dresses in loose clothes in tones of blue and purple, and wears a vast assortment of moon-themed silver jewelry. She seems a little bit embarrassed to be shielded from the wind in such a way, but is doing a good enough job hiding it.

#LGBTQWriteAThon Secrets...

Jenn from A Work of Art is 20 years old and still hasn't figured out her sexuality. She's annoyed by the expectation that she should know and also tell everyone. She doesn't have it completely figured out by the end of her novella, but she's probably demisexual for Mari.

Besides being stealth trans, which, while a secret Alexander has to defend, is neither a deep nor awful one—

there may be certain spoilery, MASSIVE CRIME things he did but miraculously dodged consequences for in 1660,

that in 1661, force him to keep quiet, mutual blackmail style.☺️

Leo really likes his phantom thief outfit. It's a snazzy suit in black and gold, with a long black coat and matching shoes. He thinks he looks pretty cool in it. (I, the author, am inclined to agree, lol.)

Wilder is mostly an open book, but he hides how much it hurts him when it disappoints his family. When they berate him, he tries to laugh it off.

Callum is hiding how much he's dreading his wedding. It's obvious that he's not happy, but the true depth is something few know.

Missed yesterday's #LGBTQWriteAThon:

Alexander has many outfits. In general he dresses like an outrageous fop loaded down with ribbons, even when he's "dressing down". A bright azure suit with gold and silver embroidery is his favorite, and he has a signature blue-dyed ostrich feather in his hat.

A sketched outfit reference for Alexander, a blond, blue-eyed, cute 15-year-old aristocratic trans boy in a 1660 England setting. He wears a blue doublet with silver embroidery and gold buttons, a lacy falling band, a voluminous white shirt, blue petticoat breeches with silver embroidery, silver stockings, and a wide-brimmed black hat with white and blue ostrich feathers and two pheasant feathers. His outfit is covered all over in looped two-tone ribbons of silver and pink. Two variations are shown, one without gold-fringed baldric, brown leather boots, and black cloak, and one with. He can wear either boots with gold spurs and lacy boothose, or short lacy cannons with red-heeled black shoes and wide silver/pink bows.

Text reads:
Alexander Aldridge, 1660 June-October look.
15 years old.
about 5'0 and 3/4".
described as delicate, beautiful, heart-shaped face.
small and looks slim, but tough.
doesn't bind. decorative bord stiffens the doublet somewhat.
pheasant (feather) isn't typical.
feathers, accessories are changed out sometimes.
he owns many suits, but blue/silver is his favourite.
unlicensed red heels.
boots indoors is now old-fashioned.

The sketch is surrounded by references from paintings 1640s-1660s showing clothing and hairstyles of the time.

In Arthurian WIP, Merlin has the biggest secret and the reason why he disappears for like 20 years... He may be the reason the antagonist Morgan is such a powerful sorceress now. Oops?? #lgbtqwriteathon

#LGBTQWriteAThon Mick's is that he's in love with Eleanor. (Or at least, *he* thinks this is a secret.) And it's a secret because he's a magicless nobody, and she's a noblewoman from the most powerful mages in his home region, so like. He doesn't deserve her. Supposedly. (1/3)

Ziyaad's biggest skeleton is that the Gods rejected him as chief of his clan. He has to pretend to be the chosen one, bc impersonating a divine intermediary is punishable by death; and pray no one discovers his secret before he can figure out how to earn the gods' favour

@andromedaexists.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 12:37 PM

Does the God in the basement of the church count??? I think They count

Other than that, Kit's skeletons are his personal issues. He's hiding things from his partner, giving her vague answers when she asks how he's doing when he's really falling apart mentally and physically

Tobie's parents died in a tragic accident when she was very young. It's not a secret as such, but she's aware that kids at school see her as different and are low-key uncomfortable around her because of what happened to her parents, so she tries not to talk about it.

They don't stay secrets long, actually, but Jake's father played a significant role in the coup, & after barely surviving, he doesn't really consider himself alive. Everything he has/is is bound to undoing what his father did. And Alex had a whole life he killed off to get away from

#LGBTQWriteAThon D9: Funny: I was just working on a scene where Honore encounters a lot of (literal) skeletons. Not in a closet. Not his.

He does have a few (bootlegging is not for the faint of heart), but Al probably has more. After all, he was a killer-for-hire, and before that, a soldier.

#LGBTQWriteAThon Skeletons, you say? Apparently in this draft I took it literally (worth it)

‘Garrot, stop buying plastic skeletons! They’re bad for the environment!’
‘Okay, okay, you’re right.’ He put the skeleton in the corner, along with what must have been fifty other plastic skeletons.
	‘Thank you.’
‘I’ll get some natural, locally sourced skeletons instead!’
	‘What?’
	‘What?’
