24. Interesting fact(s) from your WIP’s world’s history

Interesting is YMMV, but the fact that everyone speaks the same language within the range of the story is bc an Earthling got transported there who deeply wanted people to understand one another. The magic gives people

Interesting history fact from Blood Mage & Serpent Throne

Long ago (in human terms) Great Mages of the Council of Twelve would take on monikers representing themselves in some way, e.g. War Mage, Storm Mage, Blood Mage. The latter is the only one of these still alive today.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember 24: Interesting fact(s) from your WIP's world history

I mentioned before that NOMARA has a loose tie to the Triempery. The novel's deep roots involve some Aryati spacefarers and the civilization they left behind. First Creation story.

Interesting facts from your WIP's world history

In Rites of Departure: About a century ago, dragons learned to harness magic and imbue it into objects. The result was a world filled with "dragon tech" devices, like cars and handheld communicators.

23) I definitely struggle with not ending a sentence in a preposition. Just. Why. #FantasyIndiesSeptember

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 23: Grammar rules I struggle with

Commas & dashes! I just follow the vibe & how it sounds in my head when I throw them in, both willy & nilly. (I studied theater for many years, so I hear my writing more than reading it & put the pauses in where they sound best.)

9/23 #FantasyIndiesSeptember

Lay/lie/laid is a tricky one. I don’t use them often enough to have the rule memorized, and I usually avoid using them at all if I can.

I always struggle with comma placements. Pretty sure I imagine commas where there aren't any because of how I speak and think. I'm always at war with them. Someday.

Someday, I will win.

Day 23 of #FantasyIndiesSeptember

I don't really struggle with grammar rules, but that's because I mostly ignore them. LMAO

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 24: What grammar rules do you struggle with? I can't think of any in particular, but there are times when I seem to forget ones I ought to know, like whether to use "who" or "whom". #WritingCommunity

What grammar rule do you struggle with?
Going off of editor feedback, I'd say commas.
I edit to the best of my ability. I did at least six rounds on Mielea's Lost before finding an editor.

23: What grammar rules do you struggle with?

Prepositions. In/On are the bane of my existence. Shit's much easier in Portuguese.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 23

I wonder if I'm the only one with this... Commas! I tend to write (too) long sentences with commas. It makes all perfect sense in my head but not for readers... So my second passes usually break down my sentences into more digestable bits.

#fantasyindiesseptember Day 23 Least Fave Grammar rules

This is more punctuation, but I get all mixed up about what is capitalized when you start a sentence with dialogue, split it up with something, and then come back to it.

I'm still kinda getting used to the differences between when to use semi-colons and em dashes. Semi-colons in particular have always been a royal pain in my butt!

23: What grammar rule(s) do you struggle with?

All of them! But mostly: dangling modifiers.

I just don't see them. Sometimes I catch them in other people's writing, but hardly ever my own. 🤷🏽‍♀️

#FantasyIndiesSeptember 23 Grammar Rules I struggle with

Hahahahaha I don't know, @ksnightingale.bsky.social , what rules do I struggle with?

It's hyphenating words. I don't know when to do that, or rather, I didn't until K.S. helped me. Trying to do better
