I am a boomer and I grew up in Canada and was never aware of the horrors of residential schools until late in my life.

This is a stain on Canada and we must pay attention to the horrific inter-generational harm they caused to indigenous children and families.

Today is the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. 🧡 As someone who lives with a disability, I recognize how fortunate I am to have access to supports that many disabled Indigenous people did not. Today, 21st Century Disability is changing our logo to orange in recognition. #EveryChildMatters

If a kid asks, 'Why do we have to wear orange shirts at school?' it's my belief that adults should be able to not only explain the reason why, but be able to connect that story to identity, assimilation and colonialism. By David Robertson
