DAY 4! Walking, rolling, biking, taking the bus are good for your #health, great for the planet and a different way to maintain #social connectedness in your #community and create a greater sense of #belonging. How has #WeekWithoutDriving made you think of interactions with your community? #WWDPEI

In my household, every week is a #weekwithoutdriving, so I'm ready! Our Saturday: 48, 27, C Line, 773, Water Taxi, 21, C Line, 3. Also, several miles of walking.

In #weekwithoutdriving today, my father, my son and I biked to our local lumberyard, purchasing the wood to build a bench. They helpfully cut it for us and it all fit in my cargo bike. Shop local!

It's #weekwithoutdriving so it's an 18 minute wait for a red line train on @wmata.com with the following train in 27 minutes and no service alerts.

It’s just a coincidence I’m doing a self-guided walking tour of Pullman during #WeekWithoutDriving but it’s appropriate! The historic neighborhood is so walkable that one neighbor told me kids come from the surrounding neighborhoods to trick or treat in Pullman - the ultimate walkscore.

Day 3 of #weekwithoutdriving
Walked to the farmers market for some groceries & flowers. A handy cart makes it a breeze to carry a load!
Then biked to our godson’s soccer game and then romped the pup in the park after.

Happy Shopping Spree Saturday! Today's challenge is to ditch your car and do some shopping! Maybe it's groceries, maybe it's a sweet treat, maybe it's some thrifting, anything is valid!

Post a photo of you, your haul, and your non-car mode of transport, tag us, and use #WeekWithoutDriving.

Have you heard about the #WeekWithoutDriving campaign? 1/3 of people living in the United States are nondrivers.

For people who can grab their keys and go, transportation often isn’t a major concern. But for those who can’t drive or can’t afford to, transportation is something they think about.

Regional rail in Chicago is far more substantial than in the DMV, though it was still annoying that I had to buy two separate passes to get around today. The DMV is never going to be top tier until we mature VRE and MARC. #WeekWithoutDriving

Dumped my stuff at a downtown hotel and now I’m already aboard Metra, Chicago’s regional rail, going to the Pullman National Historic Park. I am sad to be missing the cafe car pilot Metra is running. Amenities like that help distinguish transit from driving. #WeekWithoutDriving

W/E (w or w/o transit service) or M-F, you cannot easily do the trip spur of the moment. Certainly not comparably to driving. That is where transit frequency comes in. 1st time I did this trip took a lot of planning. Easier now w/ familiarity, but still requires planning time.

So far my #WeekWithoutDriving has been my usual mix of walking and biking (made possible by being able to live in a supportive neighbourhood).

Today I am driving. Here's why and how this experience still contributes to my thinking about nondrivers:

Day 3 of the #WeekWithoutDriving means busting out the on-brand umbrella for the walk to the bus.

I never seem to be at home for a whole #WeekWithoutDriving so every year I post pictures of other transit systems. I think it makes me a better board member that I’ve used a lot of types of systems all over the world, and I’m looking forward to learning more about Chicago over the next few days.

Day 3 #WeekWithoutDriving: sometimes you need to carpool! I am carpooling with friends to the pumpkin patch today. Carpooling takes a bit more coordination, but also can be a lot more fun!
