The cast of Libeled Lady is ridiculously stacked: Jean Harlow, William Powell, Myrna Loy and Spencer Tracy—all major MGM stars at the time. Walter Connolly was one of Hollywood’s great character actors.

Jean Harlow, on the surface, is fascinating because the voice doesn't match the look.

Libeled Lady had a reported budget of about $603,000 and earned roughly $2.7 million—a very healthy return for MGM and further proof that its extraordinary collection of stars paid off.

Warren Haggerty (Tracy) seems totally *thrilled* about getting married.

Interesting that Harlow got top billing.

Second classic journalism movie two days in a row at the 8 pm Eastern time slot on TCM. Needless to say this one is more lighthearted. #LibeledLady #AllthePresidentsMen #TCMParty

One of Libeled Lady’s screenwriters was Maurine Dallas Watkins, who had written the 1926 play Chicago—the source that eventually became the famous Broadway musical and Oscar-winning 2002 film.

Here for the start of tonight's #MyrnaLoy and #WilliamPowell marathon on @tcmtv.bsky.social ! I love #LibeledLady as well! It's better than that Esther Williams/Van Johnson remake that I can never remember whether it's Easy to Wed or Easy to Love. Regardless, Lucy was the best part. #TCMParty

A fun face to spot: Hattie McDaniel has a small, uncredited appearance as a hotel maid in Libeled Lady—three years before she made history with her Oscar-winning performance in Gone with the Wind.

Here for #LibeledLady. Been fighting a migraine all day, so I’ll be unusually quiet, as I can’t possibly stare at the TV and type on my iPhone at the same time. But if you hear uncontrollable giggling emanating from the West Coast, that’s me. 😊 #TCMParty

Time for Myrna in prime time!

Here for one of my favorites. #LibeledLady #TCMParty

An entire month with Myrna Loy is sure to put a smile on one’s face. 😊
I recall reading about her when I first started to get into classic film and as legendary as her screen career was, I hope mention is made of her off-camera advocacy. She was truly ahead of her time.

In my world, "fixin' to" implies it's the next thing someone will be doing as opposed to something happening at a later point in time.

Either way, I'm excited for #LibeledLady tonight, too!

I've never seen #LibeledLady before but I'm here for it just for this scene alone!😄 #TCMParty

Fixin' to be around for #LibeledLady later. #TCMParty
