My chariot from Windermere to Grasmere and back. Had a loud cooling fan (or a hoover as we bus enthusiasts call it) AND a blown exhaust!

Four days, four souls, one Norfolk Terrier — and a Volkswagen Grand California threading through the Lake District. Is this the ultimate family campervan? We put it to the test properly.

Dyfnwal ab Owain, known as the 'last King of Cumbria'. His body lies under Dunmail Raise, Grasmere. His ghost army guard both him and his crown, that was cast into the depths of nearby Grisedale Tarn

Nice little 10 miler from the holiday cottage in Lowick Green today.
Not bad for the first #LakeDistrict walk in ages.
Super views of Coniston Old Man for much of the day. Feet a bit sore, which is annoying.

Look what arrived when I was waiting for my train at Cark and Cartmel station! Only Britain's most expensive train, the Britannic Explorer! From £7000 for a three-night trip to the Lakes, according to its website. #trains #cumbria #lakedistrict #money

A photo of the locomotive as it pulled into Cark and Cartmel station.A photo of the side of the Class 66 diesel locomotive painted blue, with the name Britannia Explorer in gold lettering and the name of the locomotive, St Michael's Mount, in white.A photo of one of the carriages, painted blue, with curtains and lamps visible through the windows. A black and white half frame photograph of a traditional wooden footbridge allowing access over a beck and onto the fells in the distance. There is a small wooden gate at the end of the bridge. I positioned the camera low to the ground to capture a different perspective of the planks of wood.

Blea tall surrounded by the fells in the Lake District many in the shade and covered with bracken .
I have posted photos of the tarn before but thought I would mention that it is at an elevation of 712 feet. It is a tarn you can reach by a steep narrow road.
The Langdale pikes in my photo are illuminated by the sun.

Views not much better on Whiteside (2359 ft) or Raise (2897 ft) to be honest

But do you know on the slopes of Raise is a ski lift?

Now you do!
