And finally the KC Current's pressure breaks thru. Could've been a lead-taking goal right there.

Instead, Michelle Cooper gets the cross in to Haley Hopkins for the first-half equalizer. Clears the VAR check. A great ball to Coop from Vanessa DiBernardo to set that up.

The restart was held a bit for a potential foul, but it stands. Five minutes to halftime. Cooper gets the assist on Hopkins' goal. #KCBaby #KCvDEN

Get that in there, Haley 🩵

So important to get one back before half time and after a penalty miss.

Now, come on! #KCBaby

GOAL. Current equalize. 1-1 in the 39th minute. Felt it might be coming. That looks like Hopkins who gets it past Smith. Game on. #KCBaby

Shouldn’t have been a pen. Not mad that ball didn’t lie.

Happier to get a Hopkins equalizer in regular play instead. #KCBaby

Ayo Oke gets the foul in the box on Temwa, the penalty kick goes from Lo LaBonta to Michelle Cooper who held the bal during review and finally given to Debinha, who has her PK saved by Abby Smith.

Interesting turn of events there to keep this match at 1-0 Denver.

SAVED BY SMITH. Debinha's penalty was poor. 1-0 Summitt. Now Denver is let off. #KCBaby

Well they're not going to review for DOGSO. Stunned. Really big miss by the VAR. #KCBaby

PENALTY. Chawinga dragged down by the arm...and I'm surprised this isn't being reveiwed yet for DOGSO. She makes no attempt to play the ball and there is no defender in the vicinity to get to the ball. Meets nearly every marker. Not a card at all either. #KCBaby

Chawinga narrowly wide. Whole East stand thought it was in. #KCBaby

Callan is being fussy. So my watching of the KC Current game has been switched to iPad in the garage while I also push Callan up and down the driveway. I think Callan is actually doing this to protect my mental health. #KCBaby

Lorena now with a big save on Tash Flint. #KCBaby

Lindsey Heaps is a very impactful captain for Denver Summit, and she gets them a 1-0 lead in the first 15 minutes.. clinical and calm in the box to beat Lorena..

KC with some moments early but their new Midwestern rivals have put the pressure on in their counter.

Been a couple times now where Sharples is isolated with two Summit attackers for an aerial duel and she doesn't win it. Wind is blowing out her direction a bit but it's putting the Current in some precarious defensive positions. #KCBaby

Looks like Cooper hurt herself trying to play a pass in behind to Temwa. Looks like her leg got caught in the turf. To the stadium's relief, she gets up and carries on. #KCBaby

It is SILENT at CPKC Stadium. #KCBaby

GOAL Denver opens the scoring. 1-0. It's Lindsay Heaps who gets on the end of a deflection and puts it calmly past Lorena. #KCBaby
