@thrivehiv.bsky.socialTo ensure an accurate test, avoid taking food (including gum and mints), drinking (including water), smoking, or vaping 15 minutes before the test; and avoid brushing your teeth and using mouthwash and teeth whiteners 30 minutes before the test.
@thrivehiv.bsky.socialTesting saliva for HIV doesn’t mean you can get HIV from kissing, sharing utensils, coughing or having a conversation. The test looks for antibodies for HIV in the saliva and not the virus itself.
