@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.social"How to Dial a Murder" is a different #Columbo. The culprit's never really in question - they're Mason's dogs. If the dogs were trained to kill it's obvious who did it. Columbo just has to prove it was intentional and not just the dogs going wild.
@paulinepark.bsky.social#Columbo premiered #OnThisDay in 1971 & the series ran until 1990; it wasn't a 'whodunit' so much as a 'howcatchem'; sadly, the Emmy Award-winning star Peter Falk eventually succumbed to dementia before his death at 83 in 2011; but it was a great series while it lasted:

@willmckinley.bsky.socialCOLUMBO starring Peter Falk debuted as a series #OTD in 1971.
“He was perfect,” co-creator William Link said. "And then he got better.” #TVSky #Columbo #ClassicTV
@sautter.bsky.socialMatthew Rhys made Emmy History as the 1st person to win 2 lead acting Emmys in 1 night & the 1st man to win all 3 top acting prizes - he got his Screen Actors Guild card because Peter Falk wanted him for an episode of Columbo. (TikTok video, so it's short)
#MatthewRhys | #Emmys | #Columbo .
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialColumbo's famous car was a Peugeot 403 Cabriolet. Over the course of the series he had (at least) two - a 1959 that he drove during the NBC years, and a 1960 that he arrived in for Season 8. #Columbo #ClassicCars

@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialThe first regular season episode of #Columbo, "Murder by the Book" aired 55 years ago today, on September 15th, 1971. Directed by Steven Spielberg and starting Martin Milner and Jack Cassidy; it was actually the second episode filmed.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialSeason 5 of #Columbo kicked off on September 14th, 1975 with "Forgotten Lady". A compelling story about an aging (and ultimately dying) star who murders her husband in an attempt to revive her career. Beautifully played by Janet Leigh.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialHappy birthday to Nicol Williamson, who was born September 14th, 1936 in Scotland. 42 years later he ordered his dogs to kill his friend in "How to Dial a Murder". #Columbo

@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialPatrick McGoohan made his #Columbo debut in season 4's "By Dawn's Early Light". It's probably his best Columbo performance and he won an Emmy award for it.
@lieutenant-columbo.bsky.socialIn "Publish or Perish" #Columbo joins Jeffrey Neal and Eileen McRae at Chasen's to ask a few questions. He horrifies the waiter by ordering chili. That was a bit of a Hollywood joke; in reality Chasen's was famous for its chili.

This all vinyl Johnny Cash mix was recorded the day The Man In Black died.
At the time I gave the mix out on CD, here it is again.
