Look into his eyes. It would be rude not to when he’s talking to you. It’s not as if there is much else on his face you can see. They truly are beautiful, there are none else like them in the Brume. Like staring into the depths of a sea of gold. Pay no heed to how your skin crawls, the feeling of cool smooth fingers cradling your heart. He will probe. He will listen. He will open your body and lay your soul out bare for him.

It is his first trap. Behind you, a thin line crackles across the ice.

He will change. He will act as your perfect companion. Asking all the right questions and reacting in all the right ways. A siren beckoning you closer to the deepest part of the lake, either softly around the cracks already showing, or right for the weakest point.

"What is your problem?" she seethed as she slammed the door back shut.

"My problem with what?" Gota'a asked, not getting up from where he sat. He knew exactly what she was about to scold him for.

"You can't talk to Raelthota like that!" Tora slammed her fist on the table to try and get a rise out of him. "You don't get to order people around just because," she paused and then lowered her voice. "just because we're in bed with each other."

Of course she would see it like that.

"That's not what…" he lowered the tome and set it on the table. "Seven hells. I wasn't ordering her around. I was critiquing her poor use of strategy. I simply suggested that she change her tactics to avoid the possibility of an ambush."

"Well your tone was lacking in such noble intention."

Orianne passed Yona with ease, turning to glide backwards so she could face Yona as she went.

"Oh, what's the matter? Not coming easily to you?"

Yona stomped clumsily towards Orianne, blades digging into the ice. She soon lost her balance, falling forward onto her knees and sliding helplessly along the ice. By this point, Orianne was already on the other side of the rink, leaning against the wall. Yona reached out a hand.

"Can you help me, please?"

And that had brought me no small amount of pride. Some few of them cited their time in Tural as the reason why, and I know Lamaty'i would be so proud to hear that too.

I still remember how we used to be, the surety with which we used to act. I remember the last time an Ascian came to us to parlay…

Y'shtola is, unsurprisingly, the first to approach him after Necron's fall.

"Your aether seems to be back to normal," she leads. He just blinks at her, guileless. Poor kid, if that's the case. Koray had suspected that their aether had swapped where their bodies hadn't, given what he had done to Zephirin (and Thordan, and Ilberd), but this is a soft confirmation of that fact.

It's also confirmation that the kid hadn't explained anything to the Scions.
