Help us celebrate the people that build Edmonton's bike lanes this Saturday!
yegbike.info/events#calen...

This event is an expression of pride in the active transportation network that CSU52 members helped plan, design, and build, and that many members use to get around town.

Forgive me for rolling my eyes at the constant pearl clutching about cyclists nOt folloWIng LawS when I see motorists blatantly blow through red lights on a regular basis without any care whatsoever (let alone accountability). #yegbike #yeg

A smidge warmer this morning. The neighbourhood coyotes sounded really excited about that. Watch out for new lane closure barriers on 142 St over MacKinnon Ravine. #yegbike

A lovely walk in the ‘hood this evening including a section of Victoria’s Secret.

Some of what is possible in Alberta

Just shows that the shortcuts we take are due to political will and administration’s independence #yegbike

Chilly this morning. You’ll definitely want your windbreaker, earband and gloves. No obstacles on my route, except for a car driving west in the bike lane at 103 Ave and 112 St. Street lights are still out over there. #yegbike

I had made a detailed route list last night, but it vanished. If anyone is interested, here is the #yegbike report for the larger #yeg area.
We took 91st MUP southward through the city, which ends at the giant Amazon building at SW 41st Ave.

A gravel bike is loaded with many pannier bags. My wife is crouched behind and in front of my bike, which was featured in the last post.
The setting is in a lightly treed clearing, not pictured are the many mosquitoes, gnats and midges.

For the next 2 weeks, any #yegbike commute report from this reporter will be concerning the larger #yeg area, specifically down to Pigeon Lake, and westward hopefully to the Mountain National Parks.
This is the mini-road bike loaded for travel.

A small folding bike is loaded down with a ridiculous number of bags full of camping gear suitable for surviving the zombie apocalypse.

Edmonton could achieve similar numbers if the city was serious about trying to get there.

We have goals saying they are supposed to, but they are definitely not putting their best foot forward on this issue.

A shared use path in Edmonton, Alberta with a significant linear crack, about 10cm wide.

Note that this wouldn't mean people would stop driving cars. It just means they would reduce unnecessary car usage. That's all it would take.

Hm maybe if I manage to hold on to something almost like an eastern time sleep schedule for a while when I'm back home I could actually manage to make it to coffee outside next Friday for once...

#yegbike It looks like paving on 111 Ave between 120 st and 121 st is almost done! Of course, it might be weeks before it is open to use...
