Jin took a huge #sigh when going up another floor in the Viper Tower through the #elevator. Guys like him can't even make it through the lobby but there he was. Armed with two swords, a healing Android and ammo, he was #mental fighting the Shibuya Snakes. The things he had to do for Cosmo. #WIPSnips

Dennis left home with high hopes & a bad leg.

Now he had little hope, a bad leg, and a busted hand.

Today, a little hope was all he needed.

“I’m just trying to get back to New Brunswick.”

“The good Lord and my wife wouldn’t forgive me if I didn’t help out a man in need. I can get you as far as Florenceville and after that you are on your own.”

Dennis breathed a sigh of relief thinking Irish luck was with him again.

“Thank you very much. I am going to Fredericton and I can call someone to come and pick me up there.”
“And I will tell you right now that if you try anything I will mess up your left side worse than your right and leave you in a ditch. I don’t care what the good Lord or my wife thinks of that.”

Nasrin casually drops some of her most personal lore to distract Isabelle and Jason during a game. #WIPSnips #WritingCommunity #sigh

Screenshot of the following novel excerpt:
“Luckily someone else found me. Someone curious and quietly brave. It would take someone like that to approach a scorched corpse with yellow lights glowing in its veins.”
She notices them staring, trying to wrap their heads around that last part. “See, my human body can die, but when it does my hidden half sort of picks up the slack and keeps it going till it heals enough to revive itself. I lose all color and my veins visibly glow beneath my skin. I think my human body must protect my fire body in some ways as well, since the water didn’t extinguish me.
“Anyway, as I started to wake up, I felt my body sliding through the muddy seabed. One minute I felt a sort of whirlpool at my feet, dragging me toward itself, then all at once it stopped and so did I. When my eyes focused I saw a young woman whose silvery skin glittered to rival the moon in the light I gave off, with sapphire hair that sparkled as it floated like an aura around her. Her tails matched the color of her hair except for streaks of silver running through them where the colors of her upper and lower halves blended together. At first I mistook her for a statue because she was frozen from shock.”
Nasrin allows herself a sigh at the memory, but doesn’t let it stop her from picking up the 10 of diamonds and adding it to her sequence.

from the #novel Weathervane - a tale of ancient evil in the wilds of the west (prequel to the recently published novel Sunsetter).

*Rosco feels a presence -- he's not the only thing now awakened in the house. 😱

I replenished the chambers of my Colt and open the room door. The hallway seems to stretch long as my eyes find the door at the other end.
I #sigh with relief as no apparition dances in the shadows whispering words of doom, and only paneled wood and plaster breathe in the silence of the house.
I pass through the door of our room and move into the hall. The floor creaks loudly, announcing to the house that something living moves within. I come to the top of the stairs and look down. The light of the day is flat and grey through the two small windows that flank the front door in the foyer. Daylight gives me courage, it seems, and I quicken my pace towards the door at the end of the hall, but then I slow my pace again, not hesitating but not in a hurry. The door itself has given me pause; caution slows my strides.
My mind screams denial, sure I couldn’t be seeing what I was seeing: the dark, wooden door at the end of the hall was bending like the skin of a balloon, straining outward then collapsing in, it creaked and moaned softly, inhaling and exhaling, the door seemed to breathe.

Cerel demands answers from Rushak.
POV Rush

- Brother’s Keeper, my fantasy WIP about two brothers bound by a misunderstood power

Cerel folded his arms. "This isn't about your
curse and you know it. Stop whining. Answer my question!"

Rushak SIGHed. He had been dreading this day though he knew it would come. In all their exploits and adventures, their clever plots and pranks and punishments, through all the tests and dares and arguments of youth, Cerel had been like a brother in ways Drisal could never be. Peers despite their
differences in temperament and inclination, despite the secrets he had kept close all his life. Now they would brush aside the leaves and start digging through the loam, for things kept hidden in the Forest could not stay hidden here. Things Cerel had
apparently been contemplating for some time. Rushak had not planned to speak of them, especially not to begin like this, on Cerel's terms and moral ground.
He had no time to consider what he would say, how he would say it. He foresaw no way it could go well.

Yep, lots of these! Coaching android Talyn in digital integration has a curious side-effect.

Round and around his thoughts led him, sitting up on the edge of the bed in the dark with his hands fiddling in his lap. Anger and anxiety and fatigue. Round and round and round.[Marcus.]Talyn’s voice in his head startled him out of the cycle at once. He blinked up at the ceiling, as he would have done if the ship itself was talking to him, before realising what was happening.[Talyn?] he sent out into the digital ether. [I can hear you!][Indeed, and I can hear you,] replied Talyn. [I can hear all of your thoughts, and they are very distracting. Please refrain from thinking so loudly.][You heard all that?][I did.] She sighed through the connection. [You have cursed me to hear your anxieties by teaching me to connect more powerfully with my technological heritage. I have to wonder if it was worth it.]He laughed. For all the embarrassment of having Talyn listen in on his senseless rambling, it was good to hear her voice.

I wrote a punchy opening in the first person. Honestly, it's a load-bearing game-changer that changes the game. High stakes. That's not the most — it's clearly impactful. Conclusory reinforcement. Support:
