Life is not a winning game. Humans invented winners and losers and will soon go extinct for that reason.

Life is not a winning game. Humans invented winners and losers and will soon go extinct for that reason.
Recurring discussion:
"We risk the four horsemen and going extinct unless we lower our population or eating animals quickly."
"Lowering instead of growing the population is genocide. Everyone knows that. We all hate genocide. It would also crash the economy. So, no way in hell."
I love it when farmers switch from slavery & torture to growing plants or fungi. But like with rewilding, unless people change how they eat FIRST, less meat & dairy, nothing can change via the supply change. Producing one more bike is NEVER as good as removing a car. The two are NOT the same.
Ask me about #nitrogen fertilizer, livestock ammonia and livestock poop. Ask me how it throws evolution and life back 1.5 billion years. Pre-oxygen.

First, can you see nitrogen in this chart?
#NTHE
We are a stage where most physicist & climate scientists that I know deny:
- Eratosthenes (population & growth)
- Darwin (primary production)
They talk as if humans are decoupled from nature and material realities. We are all Marie Antoinette today. Near term human extinction is locked in. #NTHE
Reminder: Yes is no and no is yes.
Google “IPCC scientist working for stripe” to understand how. Grow your horizon.
Two #NTHE drivers.
1. More people eating 2. more animals (more land use) per person.
The symptoms are: The carbon sinks like forests and wetlands (shrimp farming) are collapsing.
#Privilege What is it? A feeling? Is driving cars or flying on holiday a privilege? Is eating animals? What about when others grow the food that keeps us alive for us?
What feels better?
- Giving privilege up voluntarily? Why would we?
VS
- Being forced to give up privilege? Why would we?
Reminder: #Technology is NOT natural #science.
The tale of #Icarus explains the difference between being able to build wings that fly and accepting physics, like melting points. We cannot decouple from natural laws. We can’t conquer gravity. To live and thrive, we have to accept nature.
One person is vegan but has children. Another person grows her food but drives a car. Another person has no car but flies. Together, we can make a difference? Haha. No. We ALL have to learn to STOP breeding, eating animals, driving cars and flying.

I'm not sure if Leon really captures it all. What we see is acceleration of the growth of CO2 growth. Growth of growth.
What on Earth is going on? We have not increased CO2 per person. Why is this happening?
"The human species can somehow survive this without rapidly reducing populations, eating animals, driving cars and flying."
Now that we’ve passed 1.5C and the carbon budget is net zero - humanity has reached peak funny.
We believe that we can transition to 100% RE without reducing, aka not growing, populations,
cows and cars. Eternal life in the clouds is more probable than current plans and assumptions.
People say that we should remove the rich. People don’t say that we should remove meat, dairy and cars and stop
having babies.
