Strap ends are common Early-Medieval finds classified into different types. This is a ‘Wooperton-type’, featuring two serpentine beasts, whose distribution is suggestive of a workshop in York with most found within a 100-km radius of the city. #FindsFriday finds.org.uk/pas/recorded...

What did Neolithic people think these were? 🤔

This is a fossil sea urchin from 90 million years ago, found in the Neolithic flint mines of Grimes Graves in Norfolk

The ancient miners must have had stories about how all this sealife got there!

Our offering for the #FindsFriday council this week: This 6,000-year-old elm tree leaf we uncovered during excavations in west Lancashire 🍃

Thank you to the peaty conditions that preserved it for all those millennia (and the archaeologists who carefully excavated it too)

A small elm leaf around 7cm in length include its stem
