My #poetry #poem rerun

i've perfected the act
of pretending i'm ok
as i talk & write
of shattered things
like my spirit
like my heart
sustaining optimism
amid pain
so when i'm alone in darkness
i dream i'm dancing
'neath streetlights with you
& the moon beams
reflecting hope
~healing~
my broken pieces

Can you #sustain a note with your voice for over a minute?
Farinelli could. He had awesome lung capacity.
I think it proves that you can accomplish a lot if you're willing to sacrifice.
He didn't leave any kids. But somewhere in the ether a note still lingers.

Claim form, section 4: list any injuries you did #sustain in the flood. None, he wrote. Section 5, losses: the house, the dog, the piano. Section 6, dependants. He held the pen for a long while, then longer still. The river meandered past the window, wide and dark and almost silent. #vss365

Wilhelm Reich's #cancer research isn't complicated: he built on a principle that was already well known & highly documented; different kinds of environments grow & #sustain different types of #microbes.
#Orgone biophysics departs from terrain #biology with examination of energetic qualities.

'I live in fading hope that one day you will take life seriously, Pixie.'
'What? I take life very seriously, Gabe. You know the effort I put in to #sustain my position as Prankster of the Year. I mean, think of all the slug slime I've dropped on you this week alone!.'

contained
in these words
a thimbleful of silence
where amber sustains
a butterfly’s kiss

Play the piano
press the #sustain pedal
hold the note
for more than one breath
it lingers in the background
until you lift your foot
and cut it off forever

He didn't think he could #sustain the smile on his face but he knew what would happen if he didn't. He continued to force himself to smile as the end of the world arrived. He was told that if he smiled and stayed silent, then he would be saved. That was his final thought.

When the rain hits the window
and remind me of my tears
I struggle to #sustain
any sense of what is real.
Perhaps the looming cloud
has come to take me away
again

He grunted and sweat poured down his face. It was hard but that’s what tough things are. As he said to the kids, it’s one thing to start something, but quite another to #sustain it.

He checked his watch. Still on pace. Only 109 more floors to go. #vss365

‘You need to get up. You can’t sleep all day.’

‘I’ll have you know, I’m actually doing a specialized form of yoga that helps to #sustain my ability to tolerate all the craziness that’s going on in the world these days.’

‘What’s it called.’

‘Namaste in bed.’

The seasons change
Pilot lights turned down
barely sustained
Green to brown
and then naked limbs
As creatures of the night
Roam in the day
Packing pockets on their bones
For the hideaway
The wind is raw
The oven door closed
for the coming days

It's #sustain, tho' I agree it's bit confusing at first glance - write both! 🙃

#vss365 And I wasn’t sure if the prompt was #infancy or #sustain so I threw them both in. Have a good day, folks!❤️

#Sustain begs this question:

For how long?
