17 Arctic Skuas including this pristine adult on the RSPB Pelagic cruise this morning off Flamborough Head. Supporting cast included 5 Great Skuas, 8 Sooty’s, 6 Manx and at least 1,200 Little Gulls.

A Yellow-legged Gull floating on water in the sunshine. The bird is centre of the shot; looking right so that its right side is showing. It has a thick, yellow bill with a dark spot towards the end. Its head is almost completely white, with grey streaking around the eyes. Dark grey back and wings, turning to whitish at the end. The outer primaries are back with small white spots. The sun is shining in from the right and illuminating the bird, casting shadows on the back of the head and leaving a broken reflection in the water in front of the bird. The water is brown and covered in tiny waves and ripples; which are lit up by the sunshine to give a metallic appearance

A Black-headed Gull in winter plumage stood in water at RSPB Lodmoor, Dorset A lone Atlantic Puffin, a black and white auk with a red, blue and yellow bill, on a white bit of cliff with its head on its back and bill partially tucked into its feathers. A white Northern Gannet with an orange head on the cliff below facing away is blurred in the background of the photo. This is at RSPB Bempton Cliffs, Yorkshire.
