I'm not against using LLMs for academic research. However, there is a huge danger of introducing hidden systematic biases if their contributions are not tracked. I try to explain here why I think letting AI into academic research requires radical openness. #PhilSci #AcademicSky

New article in history of philosophy of technology in science: experimentation! #philsci #philtech

@masssimons.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 6:32 AM

1/ 🧵 The history of the philosophy of experimentation isn't really just a history of what philosophers have said about experiments.

In a new #HOPOS paper, I argue that it is also a history of what philosophers thought philosophy of science itself was *for*.

I have a blog post giving a short, informal overview of Relational Quantum Mechanics and its approach to the measurement problem.

[I have begun writing a post about RQM and metaphysics, and I decided to lift out the intro so it could be an optional read.]

They show NO compassion & NO Buddha Nature.
All sentient beings possess the same essential nature, so 👇that harming is self-harm.

Karma: While the consumer may not directly kill, supporting the meat industry encourages killing, generating negative karma.

New semester, new reading group content! We've decided to follow the stream of process philosophy and read "Everyone flows" by John Dupré in this semester. And, as the book is not that long, we will actually read the whole thing 🤩
Looking forward to stimulating discussions! 🤓

Early-career researchers are especially welcome. We want everyone to leave with concrete strategies for translating concepts between fields and for identifying the misunderstandings that tend to stall interdisciplinary collaborations.

Devastating for Canadian programs too, which also require TOEFL or IELTS. Grad faculty: Talk to admissions, at the University level (often where the requirement is enforced), before deadlines. It would be deeply wrong to just deny Iranians admission when they can't access the test

The aesthetics of science is a happening place where many of the cool kids hang out and do cool kid stuff (like, uh, think about the relationship between art and science), as @milenaivanova.bsky.social, @alicemurphs.bsky.social and i explain: philsci-archive.pitt.edu/id/eprint/31... #philsci

Question: what is the difference between a “logic” and an “algorithm”? If I have a “logic of discovery” versus an “algorithm for discovery“ how are they different? I want to give summary bullet points to students in a course. But we don’t use these concepts in physics.
