Cindy: "The PCUSA is a denomination of best-kept secrets."
Man, I feel that

"If we say that we are focused on our domestic situation, we have ceded that ground to the fascists."
No. Christ was sent for and sends us to the whole world. I will not give up this ground.
The mission of Christ is bigger than US.
So, we had breakout sessions, which is why I disappeared.
The first thing out of someone's mouth was "we really need to focus on the domestic situation"
and I was like...
Yeah, doubling down. My takeaway, here, is that responsibility for organizing on Global Mission is being pushed down to the congregational (or at least the Presbytery) level, with something like a promise to support those initiatives from GA
Okay, what's next for Global Mission from Rev. Dr. Taneti:
What is GA doing, what are Presbyterian orgs doing?
Mission is still ongoing, it will still be there.
Siblinghood is for everyone.
Okay, I get it, but calling the Global Ecumenical Liaisons "gels" (like jell-o) feels either very silly, or very on the nose, or both.
As we're waiting on a video, I'll drop in my editorial:
Even more than hearing about what we've been doing recently, I want to hear about what's coming next structurally for Global Mission.
Now into some specifics around particular missions and work. It's pretty good cheerleading overall. Talking about PDA and other orgs about coordinated work. Worship and interfaith work and budget and logistics. The bones upon which church mission works.
She discerned a call to return to the work, citing a greater heart for the needs of the dispossessed of the world than discomfort with the history of leadership and power. Speaks powerfully and compassionately about her love for the work of connection.
A very intimate narrative from Cindy of the sudden eruption in PC(USA) Global Mission. Many were dismissed, and asked/forced to sign NDAs. Cindy was asked to stay on/come back, and had been hesitant, based on the actions of leaders, to come back.
BTW, our speakers are:
Rev. Dr. James Taneti, director of the Syngman Rhee Global Mission Center & Asst. Prof. of World Christianity at Union Seminary
Cindy Corell (pronounced like "coral") Global Ecumenical Liaison, PC(USA)
Overtures in flight - why have we shut down global missions?
Need a theological statement
Reviewing in-process
We're using "covenant" language to silence people
Okay, not a bad framing.
Would rather not have blown up the flying airplane, rather than landing it
Bona fides - my folks were missionaries in what's now the DRC in the late 70s/early 80s. I have a great big heart for global mission.
I am not as tuned in as I could have been RN, but my vibe is that we've basically dropped global mission like a hot potato.
Intro remarks, history of mission in the late 20th century, relevant background.
Cuz we're, like, not doing it, now.
Tuning in for the regular meeting of @donegalpresbytery.bsky.social ! Traffic was brutal, but I'm now logged in and empowered! Let's GOOOOO
