Pleased to join a day trip to RSPB Titchwell Marsh today. Never seen it so busy, but that’s what two Spotted Crakes will do! Lifers for me, albeit rather distant. Lots of other lovely birds to enjoy too on a very windy day #UKBirding #NorfolkBirding

A decent last ten days. Currently enjoying breakfast outside with Pinks going over and Cranes bugling away. Crane numbers currently in the high 70s.
Cranes for breakfast:
Excellent afternoon at Titchwell. Both Spotted Crakes showing well on opposite sides of the fresh marsh. Offshore, a smart summer plumaged Red-throated Diver (my first of the autumn) and several moulting Eiders. And a Hobby high overhead on the way back to the car #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Stonechat at Roydon Common yesterday #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Peregrine on Cromer Church, Norfolk #norfolkbirding
Little Stint at RSPB Titchwell Marsh 8/9 #norfolkbirding @rspb.bsky.social
Foolishly put trap out all night in Hunstanton, 20mph winds and chillier! Just 6/5sp in/around trap this morning.
A Willow Beauty was tucked into the slat of fence, & Square-spot Rustic was in trap. #teammoth #norfolkmoths
Titchwell-4 L Stints, 1 juv Curlew Sand, 1 juv Stonechat. #norfolkbirding
First Meadow Pipit of the autumn over East Wretham Heath this morning. Woodlark singing and a Tree Pipit still lingering. Scraped 31 species for #BirdTrack - having no water in the three meres makes a big difference to list length!

A return to Titchwell after the rain & a Spotted Crake showed almost continuously for an hour, tho' always at the back of the bunds. It's 42 years since I saw my first Spotted Crake at Skewjack (ahead of hitching to 🇮🇪) & they still have a buzz about them!

Looking again at my Spotted Crake photos from Titchwell yesterday, and they do seem to confirm at least two birds present. The darker faced, pale flanked adult and the lighter faced, spottier juvenile #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
I can't help myself, keep going back to Titchwell for the Spotted Crake. Now thought to be at least two present. One actually came some distance out from the undergrowth today, much to the delight of the watching crowd #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Barn Owl over the salt marsh at Ongar Hill a few evenings ago. Big boat in the background #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Went back to Titchwell this afternoon for another look at the Spotted Crake. More distant and elusive than when it first arrived, but I did get this video of it having a bit of a wash and scrub up. The passing Teal helps give a sense of just how dinky this bird is #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Pectoral sandpiper showing in nice morning light at Cley this morning. Then spent an hour looking at the sea seeing a handful of Arctic skuas and 4 black terns #NorfolkBirding
