It's time to give moths their moment! 📢

A vital part of our planet's biodiversity, moths are important pollinators and provide an irreplaceable link in the food chain for species such as birds, hedgehogs and bats.

But they are facing a challenging future.

Pink-barred Sallow - a couple of days earlier than last year’d first.

Photographed here on Apple leaves but more likely matched to the yellowing Salix leaves near to where the over-wintering eggs are laid

A Beautiful Twitcher, Tebenna micalis, seen @wildkenhill.bsky.social yesterday. Only the third record for Norfolk. Spotted by my eagle-eyed wife, which is often the case. Seen here on Common Fleabane, its favourite plant.

We've recorded this Tortricid Leafroller moth (I think) at our Perth Hills moth light several times, then we spotted this one on a recent walk. Makes the purpose of those patterns and colours clearer

I found what I think is a Festoon caterpillar on the path earlier. Was thinking of trying to parent it to adulthood. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or should just hoist it back up into an oak tree?
