Some previous work suggested that captured mitochondria can integrate into recipient macrophage’s mitochondrial networks. Using genetic models to label parenchymal #mitochondria, we instead find continuous transfer to #macrophages at homeostasis, followed by #degradation 🚮

Previous works showed that #macrophages capture #mitochondria released by other cells in several tissues. But where is this transfer most active❓We screened macrophages across 16 tissues and found striking differences in #mitochondrial_uptake spanning several orders of magnitude

Lujan, Malhotra et al. @crg.eu demonstrate that TANGO2 is an acyl-CoA binding protein located in the #mitochondria lumen. rupress.org/jcb/article/...

The wait is almost over!

As part of the organizing team, we’re thrilled to see everything coming together and can’t wait to welcome everyone for three days of exciting science, inspiring talks, and great conversations.

See you in Cologne on 5–7 October 2026!

What if reshaping #mitochondria could help #bone heal? In stem cells, lowering #PFKM created donut-shaped mitochondria, improved cellular energy management and boosted bone formation. In rats, #gene delivery that suppressed PFKM accelerated repair of skull and thigh-bone defects.🤓
