NSFW warning.

There is a TINY amount of dialogue here, but mostly narration ๐Ÿ˜…

My breath caught as he stepped close nto me again.

"Can I...?" he trailed off, and my heart stuttered in my chest when his fingers grazed the hem of my tank top. I bit my lip and nodded.

"Yeah," I whispered hoarsely. I almost moaned as his fingertips brushed the skin above my waistband, shuddering beneath the touch. Our eyes met as he slipped his hands under the fabric, pressing his palms flat against my abdomen. His hands seared my skin as he slowly trailed his fingers up my ribs, sliding my shirt up with his movements. I moaned, eyelids fluttering, as his rough hands dragged across my nipples.

"Oh, God," I whimpered. His gaze locked on mine as he slowly moved back down, making my body twitch as he reached the sensitive skin of my stomach again. "Max, please..." I closed my eyes and hung my head back, stupidly overwhelmed by the light touches. He stroked my nipples, intentionally this time, coaxing more moans and whimpers from me. It had never been like this before. Someone taking my shirt off had never been so...erotic, so involved. I had never had someone touch me like they were worshipping me, like I was something precious. Valuable."Lift your arms, sweetheart." Max's voice had to travel through the cotton filling my brain. I blinked at him hazily before obeying. Just as reverently, pulled my shirt off the rest of the way.

He tossed it somewhere I couldn't bring myself to care about. His eyes finally left mine to skim the length of my naked torso. I couldn't breathe as his palms skated over my heated flesh, devouring me with his eyes and hands as if he were trying to memorize every detail.

Tryna catch up ๐Ÿ˜… I finally took OP's advice and made some character picrews. This is Nico Schaefer Atkinson. He is a guy, just limited picrew options, but tried to communicate that as well as I could w/ a long-haired character lol

This feels a lot like that one question that vexed me earlier. I don't have the brains today to engage with this, unfortunately. I'll try to answer questions people ask if I have anything of value to add.

Pentober Day 11: BRIDGE. A Friday incident call spins up a call bridge. Then the network goes dark and something answers.

@sayaashrah.bsky.social you are an exemplary writer of fight scenes. Thereโ€™s a lot that goes into them. What are the most important elements to focus on when crafting one?
What details might be most and least important?

(Others who write them feel free to jump in too)

I'd definitely want to talk to Robert E. Howard or Hemmingway about writing.

Contentious subject, but how do youz feel about using accents in your work? A simple aid for character voice? Too cheesy? An important part of your style/cultural representation? Appropriative when done wrong? I write accents a lot, but -have- had reading experiences ruined by them. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

#LitHodgePodge @rachaelrainerivers.bsky.social has an amazing way with words that really draws you into the character. How do you discern what to show? What to hide? I think it's a good convo to have!

-This also goes for all writers and authors out there who are struggling out there with the same issues I'm having, who have similar advice.
I'm basically trying to "Bluey" myself out of this one, like in the episode "The Show".

-possible to pick yourself up when there's so much negativity in the news and the publishing industry, facing rejection after rejection, and knowing that you will be the ONLY person in your family to tell your story? How do I stay positive?

Just got off a summit for writers called Write Anyway featuring @suecampbell.bsky.social and other writers and book coaches, I wanted to ask but never got answered:
As a failure struggling neurodivergent writer with a disability & chronic pain, how is it...

A11. Much love to all the authors who've interacted with this me so far!
Craft Question: How might someone describe ppl in a family "looking related" w/o it being generic? Family, birth and found, are a big deal in the narrative of TSBH & I wanted some new techniques!

I think in general, my question is what are some of your favorite horror tropes or elements you've put into your stories? How did/do you implement those elements into your work?

@ellieyellu.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:15 PM

General #WritingCommunity question:

What's something not writing related in your life you feel informs your craft at its core?

For myself, world-building is the key to establishing a consistent authorial voice within a given work; that voice naturally varies from one setting to another. I try to especially keep in mind what Professor Delany meant by looking at the world with a "high grain on the grid". ๐Ÿงต

Any other aphantasic writers around here? How do you handle visual descriptions for characters and settings when you don't have any kind of mental image of them?

@scarletvmitchell.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 2:36 PM

Ok, Ive got a weird one. I am generally a pantser. I like to paint lush scenery and wander around till I find a wonky plot.
I have tried planning, which is great, cuz then the story is tighter, but it loses A LOT of lushness as I focus on plot.

How do you do both?
