The Western Bonelli's Warbler found yesterday by our volunteer Tom Rosas made its way into one of the mist nets in the Trapping Area this morning. It was shown to a small crowd at the Observatory after being ringed, then released back into the north-east corner of the Trapping Area. #kentbirding

Dungeness early this morning, the brilliant Western Bonelli’s Warbler, caught in the NE corner of the Trapping Area, ringed at the Obs, and returned back to the NE Corner of the Trapping Area. A big thanks to everyone at the Obs.

Western Bonelli’s Warbler in the SE corner of bottom Long Pits, Dungeness this morning

Others have pics of the warbler - so I have decided on an action shot. All very reserved and polite…

Very nice day put at Dungeness
Very long bird list with lots of goodies. Met some great birding folk and got good guidance on idents. Consequently some of the standouts were Arctic Skuas, velvet scoters and red throated divers. So wonderful to see the swallows off. #UKbirding #Kentbirding

Board walk stretches out to sea with a bench at the end. Turquoise sea and a grey sky toned dark up to light.

Western Bonelli's Warbler still at the northern end of the Trapping Area. A fairly hectic morning with birds arriving throughout with 70 Chiffchaff, 30 Willow Warbler, 40 Blackcap, two Garden Warbler, three Spotted Flycatcher, two Whinchat etc. Big Swallow passage with 6000 out to sea! #kentbirding

Fun watching so many Black Terns passing @dungenessbirdobs.bsky.social this evening. Nice to compare moults between the smudgy adults (1st 2x images) and the pristine juveniles (last 2x images). Super duper birds! @kentishplover.bsky.social @martynwilson.bsky.social #kentbirding

A bit of a comedown on yesterday but still a good day, with the sea still the place to be. The highlights being two juvenile Long-tailed Skuas flying west together past the Fishing Boats at 17:15hrs, also two Balearic Shearwaters, 20 Black Tern and two Little Gull. #kentbirding

An interesting walk around the Desert at Dungeness first thing this morning, a close flyby (twice) by a Short Eared Owl, and a Wryneck that wouldn’t look in my direction, plus 2 Whinchat & a Spotted Flycatcher close-by.

A superb afternoon seawatch didn't have a great deal of birds but it did have excellent quality - the star being a first for Dungeness in the form of an adult Brown Booby! Other goodies included a close juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 15 Black Tern and three Little Gull. #kentbirding
