I have often described Babylon 5 as my One True Love, fandom-wise and this particular early music video is one I always closely associate with those heady days of early online 90s fandom. Have to admit, I'd be hard pushed to name another song by this band! […]
@debe.mastodon.nz.ap.brid.gyI did this one, in public, at a karaoke bar once and some people said I did OK. I haven't figured out if I believe them. But I'll take it, sort of.
Pantera "Cemetery Gates"
@debe.mastodon.nz.ap.brid.gyMy fave SingStar (PS2) song to perform (with my vocals dialed right down; the score is OK, though)

Back to that question of 'What song would you like when you walk onto a stage?' - this would have to be another candidate, just for the opening guitar rifss!

China Beach was the first TV series to really bring home to me the passage of time and the inevitability of change, especially its fourth and final season where episodes cut back and forth between the characters' time in Vietnam and back in the US in the […]

This is one that gets me through stressful, high workload times.
Rush - Marathon
From first to last
The peak is never passed
Something always fires the light
That gets in your eyes
One moment's high
And glory rolls on by
Like a streak of lightning
That […]

The London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony was probably the last I felt really optimistic about the future of the UK as it depicted a country proud of its past and achievements but also realistic about them and its place in the world and that was also the […]
@debe.mastodon.nz.ap.brid.gyOh, we're doing break-up/heartbreak songs, now?
My heart was broken at Form 2 (Year 8) school camp…
I listened to this song a lot for the next wee while.

I prefer Dolly Parton's version but this was the version playing on the radio just after someone very dear to me let me down gently but unambiguously.

Still on the subject of the Arsenal's role in my life, this song wasn't adopted as an anthem till after we left London but does it ever get straight to the heart (well, the chorus anyway). Still trying not to take it too personally that their great […]

From a time when being an Arsenal fan was emotionally a lot harder. This would be my go to song after another of their occasional more abject performances, along with quoting Lt Colonel John Paul Vann after the Battle of Ap Bac and posts of wanting the […]
@carey.mastodon.nz.ap.brid.gyIt’s a good thing my wife liked this song too, or I might have been in a lot of trouble.
Tim Minchin – If I Didn’t Have You
@debe.mastodon.nz.ap.brid.gyAnd so ended my complacent enjoyment of popular music. I was about 12 when I heard this.
Scatterbrain "Tastes Just Like Chicken"
* and now I can do a select few tongue-twisters without getting my tongue twisted.

One of the songs that got me through my first breakup. On the bright side, nothing else has ever felt that bad!
Big Country - Alone
It's not my life in those old pictures
The ones you threw away
For I was always someone else
And always far away
Walking in […]

Can we have retrospective personal playlist songs? This didn't come out till we left London for Wellington but that was probably just as well as Frank Turner was our last London gig and this song would have wrecked us, with departure imminent.

Thinking about @Kay 's original post - 'What song would you like when you walk onto a stage?' - This would have to be a strong candidate:
