I love this interview conducted by PR NEWS' @nicoleschuman.bsky.social, one of my favorite #PR #journalists.

Carlitos Ricardo Parias, known as Richard LA for his reporting on predominantly Hispanic neighborhoods, has been in ICE detention for more than 300 days. He's among several #journalists who have been detained by ICE for "committing acts of #journalism." www.cjr.org/news/richard...

McClatchy #newspapers fallout continues: 7 #journalists at @kansascity.com lost their jobs, including an opinion editor and #reporters covering the police department, Wyandotte County and more. www.kcur.org/news/2026-09...

#Ethical #journalists avoid #stereotyping.

Journalists should examine the ways their #values & experiences may shape their reporting.

Never deliberately #distort #facts or #context, including visual information.
Clearly label illustrations & re-enactments.
Never plagiarize. Always attribute.

#Journalists should:
Explain #ethical choices & processes to audiences. Encourage a civil dialogue with the public about journalistic practices, coverage & news content.
Respond quickly to questions about accuracy, clarity & fairness.
#Acknowledge #mistakes & #correct them #promptly & #prominently.

The way #journalists & #media communicate about child and youth #suicide can have a profound impact on young people and the wider community.

The late, disgraced President Richard Nixon despised many #reporters #journalists. Yet even he didn't resort to the sort of crude, juvenile public insults that are staples of our president today. From @dallasnews.com via @lasvegassun.bsky.social lasvegassun.com/news/2026/se...

#Boycott also of course:

_ #Morocco for the #illegal #occupation of #W. #Sahara & human rights violations against #Sahrawi people.

_ #Turkey for #illegal #occupation of #N. #Cyprus,
human rights violations & bombing #Kurds & #Syria &
suppression of #press #freedom &
imprisonment of #journalists.

This is what happens when your newsroom replaces all of its #journalists with accountants. Words have no definition. Instead, headlines are constructed via "clickability" (CTR) and "engagement". They are "power words" for making you afraid and weak in the index finger. Fuck @cnn.com and their greed.

Interesting to see how this @utaw.tech report on how #AI is changing work in the tech sector mirrors #journalists' experience
👉impact largely negative
👉positive impacts depend on our ability to decide for ourselves how we engage with AI
👉The way AI is used should be baked into collective agreements
