russet leaves scatter

seasonal visitors...
acorns knock

sunset commencing--
silver shimmers on still lake
quiet but the loon

cloud keeps steady pace
butterfly accelerates
flowers cheer the race
Thanks to the editor Jodie and King River press for publishing my poems in Folk Ku Issue 7
Gaza’s ruins—
over a thousand tents
the moonlight
spring break
the tree they are shaking
rains laughter

I just found out today is #BatmanDay and #haikuSaturday so I should really share this #haiku I wrote when I caught my daughter being #Batman.
Celebrating #haikuSaturday and admiring the way the blooms of this Jacquemontia tamnifolia vine untwist into full bloom (and breaking a few haiku rules):
buds beginning, start
unspinning unfurling pet-
als stretch wide, seek sun
pond sings green, blue, brown -
chorus of leaves, water, ground,
each hue: its own sound
in the parfait's cracks autumn

Final barbecue,
weekend feeds us meal over
summer's last embers.
Autumn's dance begins
Blueberries don golden gowns
Geese honk out a tune.

Haiku inspired by the 2026 Wild Wonder Journaling Conference prompt to write about hope. Video from a birding hike I led in May 2026. The wonder of nature and restoration of wild spaces brings me hope.
Pipevine Swallowtail
Hovering, wings quivering
Hope, in Wild Wonder
Unbowed heads
oxeye defying
autumn chill
Autumn is creeping up on us. #HaikuSaturday #haiku
