#FaveLineFriday
I wrote this week a bit (which is close to a miracle).

Nate stood, puzzled, when Eric just pulled him into a hug, into a kiss then. Soft, wide. Nate gave it back, unable to object. Mortified a bit. He looked at Eric’s smile.
“Speechless? You chewed your lip off waiting for me?”

She feels so small. Like the hand I’ve taken hers with could be too much, like it could hurt her. A stray cat, that’s what I thought of when we first met, and I was right. When you find one of those things it’ll either run away scared or let you hold it and love you forever.

Whee! It's #FaveLineFriday!

Xenon's house of unspoken truths is starting to crumble, leaving Krainos's heart (and more) mostly exposed.

BQ: Krainos is a sapphire, for blue skies and pure water. Xenon is a ruby, fiery passion.

"You're doing the right thing, right?" Krainos said as Xenon headed for the door.

"I think so," Xenon said. He draped the cloak around his shoulders and stepped into his boots. "But someone in this town would think I'm not regardless of what I did."

Krainos held a corner of the bedsheet modestly over his lower stomach with fidgeting fingers. He pursed his lips, and nodded. "See you soon, then."

"See you soon." Before he could think another thought, he was through the door and latching it behind him.

Tharaiyelagh glanced around at the others. A half-Hawk girl doing her best to fit in. A former slave slowly relaxing beside the embers. A veteran of the worst tragedy Seyzharel had yet endured, stalwartly watching over his charges. These were his people. This was his Seyzharel.

Happy #FaveLineFriday to you as well. Hope you'll have a great vacay.

The Bexian shouted, using the Scouts affectionate name for themselves, “Make way, Scooters coming through.”

The throng of crew members parted as the two scouts met near the middle of the large open passenger room of the ferry.

#FaveLineFriday Just passed this one on final edits. I love this line.

Bonus A: Acanthus is a garnet. Dark, richly beautiful, and- like garnets symbolize pomegranates- a symbol of the underground.
Cypress is a sapphire. Fiercely loyal and always looking for the truth.

A snippet from Cypress' POV in Aloe by Artemis Quinn. It says:

"A victim of circumstance?" I parroted. Is that what I was? Really? "I may have provoked them. Don't let me off that easily."

"You want me to arrest you or something?"

"No..."

"Yeah. That's what I thought. Shut up."

This is from revising an upcoming episode of Philosopher Queens.

Kyle is so protective that when he fears something terrible might have happened, he doesn't exactly ask God for help.

"I prepare to threaten God for the second time this week if Katie or Rachel are hurt."

Jack and Charlie meet at a pub after their first case together. He finally reveals his matron is Aphrodite, and she decides she might actually enjoy working with him.

(My Mudlarks are such squishy-cheeked BABIES in this story!😭 They barely know each other!…

Charlie was socially adept enough not to laugh at the man who had just revealed something that was clearly of a personal nature. Despite her baggage around religious beliefs, there was something endearing about his confession. This was no wannabe edge-lord goth kid. This man worshipped a figure from grade-school history books. He wasn’t a rebel. He was just a nerd. She could appreciate that about him. She nodded at his glass.
“What’s that? Scotch?”
“Would you like a taste?”
“Sure.”

This one’s a good one because it answers the Bonus question too :>

From “To Save The Sun”
Part V: The Life Lived In Between

Bonus: Pearl. It’s the gemstone i’ve associated to Aquatic society, it is more precious than gold as it is the only stone from water

I handed my own box to him, presenting the irregular golden pearl within. “Now you’ll have a little bit of something, a pearl representing each of us with you on that string. So when we’re off in space searching for Kai-Ilen, we’ll all still be with you.”

Maes put the box down and turned away. “Is your goal to see me cry this fifth,” he tried at humour.

“No, silly sponge; I, and I’m sure the rest of us, want you to be happy,” I said on the verge of tears.

—-“I am happy,” he said through the tears, “so much so that I’m overcome by emotion.” He tried to laugh.

“Good… I want you and Rhina to hold onto those happy feelings while we’re away,” I said, trying not to break into a cry myself. I turned Maes around and held him close. To my surprise, Flyboy joined in the hug.

#FaveLineFriday Actually *is* a line today! I'm proud of that analogy in the last bit, but the rest is here for context.

In short, this week in Beeslingers: When a flailing bee's kicked out of the Adventurers' Guild, Jo knows something ain't right.

In short: nothing good. The whole point of the Adventurers’ Guild was to vet anything related to the freelance guns-for-hire and monster-hunters that called themselves adventurers. If a shop wanted to sell supplies and rations to adventurers, every bullet and sack of flour had to be verified as authentic, not some cheap knock-off full of tin and plaster. If a restaurant wanted to serve adventurers, its kitchen had to be inspected for sanitation.

And if somebody had something they wanted to hire adventurers for, they had to go through the guildmaster and get their story verified by mind-reading heart mages. It was red tape, sure, but it sure beat getting robbed blind by a bee’s bandit swarm after being lured in by the promise of an easy payday.

So if Sal was turning this bee away, whatever job it had to offer must’ve been fishier than a sardine cannery.

Yay, #FaveLineFriday!

Hmm, I need to convey Sir Corbyn's struggle with grief and the fear of Ata dying like his previous squire. Ocean imagery time!

I wonder if that's relevant?

Bonus Q: Ata is an early Aries; Sir Corbyn, an early Scorpio.
#Raven+Bear #WritingCommunity #WriteSky #shortstory #WIP

An excerpt from Deilenddu Forest (Raven & Bear: 9) by Bramble, in black text on a white background. Sir Corbyn struggles with his grief as he's led to Sir Seren's workshop.

Transcript:
Moments slipped by him in a numb rush, colder than the sea on a winter night. Against this riptide, his footfalls were so woefully heavy that he fell far behind Sir Seren. She waited for that old man at a long shed, filled with a hoard of familiar tools and mechanical equipment. Behind it all, Sir Corbyn noticed a project of hers hidden by dark tarp.

Happy #FaveLineFriday, folks!

I am ALMOST done with this pass on Aloe. Here's my fave line from the week. There's nothing I love more than best friends being shits to each other.

Bonus Q: Acanthus is a Virgo. Cypress is a Capricorn. Azalea is a Taurus. Austin is a Libra.

A snippet from Austin's POV in Aloe by Artemis Quinn. It says:

"You're gonna kill your eyesight," I grunted with the mug still at my lips.

"You don't have kids, stop sounding like a dad," Everett snorted. "I'm like eight years older than you."

"Meaning your eyes are gonna go sooner than mine, old man."

"Old in body, young in spirit. That's the difference between us. If I want to play my game I'm gonna play it. Bitch," he joked, letting my jabbing roll right off him like water off a duck.

"Young in spirit," I mocked.
