I haven't watched all of the entries in this franchise but I can say with confident that Shinomiya is the worst villain. Her and Eiji. What a waste. #なのはEXGV 12

But yeah. It was nice to see Nanoha and Fate again even though I watched Reflection and Detonation right before the show started. Shiina, Towa and the other girls are good. #なのはEXGV 12

Maye they have more plans for Nanoha past this point. I sure hope so. It'd be a shame if this was the last time we saw Nanoha animated. #なのはEXGV 12

It's baffling how they didn't just adapt the manga. IIRC, the manga was announced at the same time as the anime so why promote the manga with an anime that is about a completely different story? #なのはEXGV 12

it's still an odd decision when you don't have the context of the manga. I probably should've picked up the manga before the anime, but I'm glad the anime worked on its own. Though from what I've heard, the manga is so much better. #なのはEXGV 12

They're all good kids. Yes even you, adult Hayate. Why are you even an adult? I'm sure it's magic that is either explained in the manga or one of the Nanoha shows I didn't watch and the reason is probably something like "Exceeds needs an adult representative" but #なのはEXGV 12

Anyway. Despite my complaints, I had fun. Shinomiya and Eiji can go fuck themselves but I like Shiina, Towa and their kids. Nanoha and Fate kinda just existed but never in a way that made me angry (just disappointed). #なのはEXGV 12

But although I like a good amount of stuff about this show, the fact that it's not a good Nanoha show looms over it like a dark cloud. If it didn't have any relation to Nanoha then it would've been a pretty solid gay sci-fi show. It still is, but w/ a big asterisk. #なのはEXGV 12

outshine the bad stuff (Shinomiya and Eiji, Nanoha and Fate being pretty much just side characters, Hayate being confined to sit behind a desk, Vita and gang doing *nothing*), but as a Nanoha show I think it fails pretty badly. #なのはEXGV 12

EXGV tried plenty of things and I think the things it did a decent job at (Shiina and Setsuna, Shiina being taken in by Nanoha and Fate, the early days in Shiina and Towa's friendship, Towa's found family, Nanoha and Fate's designs) #なのはEXGV 12

Maybe the manga works better. I know very little about it but I do know that the anime has very little to do with it. Maybe they tried to pitch the manga story for an anime but executives meddled and what we got was this show. #なのはEXGV 12

but they didn't have to turn Nanoha and Fate into side characters that do very little. Reflection and Detonation are prime examples of how to handle Nanoha and Fate sharing the main character spot with two new characters. #なのはEXGV 12

There are so many points in the show where they could've gone "and here's why Nanoha and Fate are here and here's what has happened since Detonation" but nope, this was Shiina and Towa's story. Which isn't a bad thing per se, #なのはEXGV 12

I watched the two movies right before starting on this show, expecting a sequel and... maybe the manga is more of a sequel because holy shit this anime has *no* relation to anything else in the franchise lol. #なのはEXGV 12

My thoughts on this show would probably be way different if I had watched everything Nanoha related post s2, if I had watched Reflection and Detonation when they came out and if I was reading the manga, but I have only watched s1 & s2 & I barely remember anything. #なのはEXGV 12

Sure, none of the conflicts mean anything and the happy time isn't reallyt earned, but there could've been less than nothing and I'll gladly take "and then everything was solved and everyone was happy". #なのはEXGV 12

I'm still disappointed but at least Shiina and Towa got to be together in the end and they live with the other girls and continue to fight with Nanoha and Fate every now and then. #なのはEXGV 12

If it weren't for the scenes designed to elicit and emotional response then I would've been pissed at not just this episode but the whole show. #なのはEXGV 12
