Today I saw a field full of beautiful Common Toadflax. Such an uplifting sight especially as I have never seen these gorgeous wildflowers before! The pollinators loved them too! πŸ«ΆπŸ“·πŸ’›πŸ

The plant features an upright green stem topped with a cluster of pale yellow flowers that heavily resemble snapdragons. Spear thistle-Cirsium vulgare back in flower again now things have greened up after the recent rain, a little late for #Wildflowerhour but such a bright little flower against the still drought affected grass is worth a post.

Late picking #favouriteplant of the year for #wildflowerhour but this is right up there. I believe it is Utricularia australis with that flat lip that turns up a little at the edges. In ditches at Canada Farm on Somerset Levels during the excellent Dipterists Forum week in July. Native plantβœ…!
